Quentin Hubbard

source

Geoffrey Quentin McCaully Hubbard (6 January 1954 28 October 1976), was the son of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology. His father had groomed his son to take over the organization for him, but Quentin's personality was ill-suited for being the leader of an international religious denomination. Personally he wanted little to do with Scientology. Quentin was found dead on October 28, 1976 of an apparent suicide.
Quentin Hubbard was groomed to one day replace his father L. Ron Hubbard as the head of the Scientology. However, Quentin was deeply depressed, allegedly because he was homosexual and his father was homophobic, and wanted to leave Scientology and become a pilot. As Scientology rejects homosexuality as a sexual perversion and views mental health professionals and the drugs they can prescribe as fraudulent and oppressive, Quentin had no avenues available to deal with his depression. Quentin attempted suicide in 1974 and then died in 1976. He was found dead in Las Vegas and his death was declared a suicide.
