I've been active in the Petz community for about five years now. I've been hanging around for much longer though, simply visiting sites. I however, did not start hexing until... well. Right before The Petz Board closed down. I must admit that I don't hex very often at all. Its hard for me to become inspired enough to really hex something. Perhaps I'm wasting my potential or whatever, cause I know I'm a proficient hexer. But I'm also an artist, and many artists will tell you... you can't make art out of any ol' idea that just springs to your head. It has to mean something to you. For me... well, I like doing stuff that just hasn't been done before. I won't say I'm innovative or anything, not nearly so as Vicki or Butterfly Chaser. But I do like to do my own thing. I am proud of the small amount of hexies I've made. I worked hard on them. As of right now, most of these are no longer available and I've just got these up here so curious people can know what small contributions I've made to the hexing community. Enjoy!
Chibi Winged Muttlies
Time Taken: About six hours
Made: Mid 2003
These were the very first adoptions that I posted that really made any kind of stir. They were posted on TPB and I remember getting quite a few applications for them. The original ones were named Treelo, Honey, Smoochie and Albatross and I spent about an hour working on each of them, plus the few hours that I took making them little wings (so cute!). I later put up downloads similar to them when I left the PC for awhile. When PA first made its appearance I remember seeing them up there, many times. People liked them, haha.
DoubleHeads
Time Taken: About A week?
Made: 2004
Both Dylan and I worked on the creation of this hexie. Dylan started it on, believe it or not, Random Wiktor's Akita Inu. She originally intended to take its addball tail and spread it along the back in and attempt to replicate its humped back. This idea was junked when I told her she could simply move the belly ball up. You see, back then I was the "more experienced" hexer XD. So anyway after some fiddleing, she decided to stop. The thing had a solid, clearly NOT split down the middle head. I decided promptly that I would have to remedy that, so she agreed to let me take over. I went into it like a side of beef, tearing off the old head and creating an addball one, elongating and refining the body, adding an addball in the back to make the butt smoother (its literally called butt-smoother), adding claws and fixing the puppy. Took me a few days, but the finished product did look particularly fine, and I's still proud of it. So proud in fact that I hexed many variations of it.
Flame Dane Version 1
Time Taken: Bout a week
Made: 2005
I had originally intended to make an entire set of themed Danes, the other idea I had was a cornflower blue dane with Sunflowers on it. I still wnat to do that Idea, but at the time, this was the only one I had the energy to complete. I was really inspired by this idea, it had never been done before to my knowledge... and the idea I had in my head just looked plain rad. Yeah! A Flaming Dane! With Spots! Woo! It could be done! While I worked on it for a combined time of about a week.... I was kinda lukewarm about the results. PC seemed to like them though, which is fine and good. I was not satisfied. A bunch of them were put in SS and TPE, none of them were actually given out as adoptions though. All of the spots were done in Reshack, thats why it took so friggen long. Version one is nice and all, but in my opinion it pales in comparison to version two.
Sketchi's Dali
Time Taken: A day.
Made: 2005?
Sketchi PMed me one day requesting a Dalmation with the DoubleHead's zig-tail on it. I couldn't resist her, cause she's sketchi, so me and her thumped out a design, and after some trials and errors it was done. So I basicly made her an entire file... which Dylan later used to make her neat element Dalis. I liked the result, so I kept one for myself as well. Not one of my more complicated endevors.
Flame Dane Version 2
Time Taken: Bout a week
Made: 2006
These ones I actually am still quite proud of. After Nick's new Petz Workshop came out, I couldn't resist giving the Flame danes, which I weren't satisfied with, another go. It took me only two or three days to finish these guys, as I worked on them constantly. Petz Workshop is a blessing, I really love how these turned out. I posted an adoption thread on PCG for these guys. Went like hotcakes, so I'm sorry I can't give out anymore... but theres lots of them circulating the net already x_x;
The Horse v1
Time Taken: A Year
Start: June 2005, End: July 2006
There isn't much I can say about it that I have not said already? I worked so hard on this file and by the end of it I was about to have a nervous breakdown. I'd been keeping it under wraps for so long. It was my prescious secret for such a long time (I must assume that the people I showed it to on Coming Soon thought I gave up on it.). And now I was about to reveal it... and people would critque it. Ugh it was nasty, cause then I ran face first into the linez limit and had to go back and get rid of features that were not direly important. Waiting for Carolyn to reply to my frantic and anxious emails (wouldn't you be after working on soemthing for a YEAR x_X;) was simply agonizing... But then, with her guidence, I finished it, FINALLY!! I wanted to scream. I was shaking as I typed up the post to finally reveal the first horse, Layla, to the Petz Community. And when I checked the post the next day to find that there were about four more pages I was both stunned and euphoric. Thanks guys, for your support, especially you, Sketchi, I wouldn't of had the guts to stick with it if it weren't for your prodding =D.
The Horse v2
Time Taken: Two years
Start: June 2005, End: July 2007!
Well. It turned out that I was not done. After awhile alot of things about my file began to annoy the hell out of me. So here and there I'd change things. During this period I began experimenting with making the limbs alittle freer and soon stumbled opon a fix for my horse's stiff-leg problem. Its not perfect or anything and it looks really goofy at times. But I perfer it to the original. This one boasts alot more detail and realism, as well as more character. And, on the plus side, it didn't stress me out nearly as much, which is nice. Hexing this, while a tad frustrating at points, was pretty easy. It was just alittle tedious and I had to do a few things that most people would probably think are ridiculous >>; Anyway. Thanks PCG for your continued support of my hexings. Here's to future horse versions and, one day, Mind Flayers.
