FAQ
In this guide I will attempt to guide you through the report card making process. Towards the end there will be a question and answer section (search there for answers to your questions).

  • Make sure you have access to all of the Hardware/Software Requirements (listed on the previous page). Many of them are located within the school itself. Microsoft Works & Microsoft Spreadsheet in the school library (on only one computer), Microsoft Word on every computer, Winzip will be hard to acquire there (since you arent supposed to be downloading anyway, though in future updates I may have a direct download to the .wps file which wont require Winzip), and high quality printers are everywhere. Just do this during A/C, it wont take long.
  • Download The "Smart" Card
  • Open it in Microsoft Works (there will be no need for you to ever open Microsoft Spreadsheet, but you will need it to edit your grades within the Microsoft Works program, so you must have them both on the same computer, which they usually are). This step requires Winzip.
  • Edit your grades and information (re-aligning text and grades using spaces and tabs).
  • Save the file in Microsoft Works, then open it using Microsoft Word (you will no longer be able to edit your grades).
  • Go to "Page setup" and take the top margin as far up as it will go (this step may be accomplished in Microsoft Works by printing out of the boundaries... not sure, just a guess since I havent really had time yet to test it out).
  • Print.

    Question and Answer

    Q. "Can I get in trouble for this?"
    A. "Good question, Im not sure... I dont really spend my time trying to figure things out like that (since it will be YOU getting in trouble), but I assume since it isnt technically cheating that you wont get in trouble... at least by the school. I suppose that by the next time I update all of this, that I will have an answer."

    Q. "How come the pattern for the tables look funny?"
    A. "Several reasons... It could just be your printer, it could be that I used the wrong pattern, or it could be that I used Works when the school probably used Word... either way you won't be able to distinguish it from the other pattern unless you put it under intense scrutiny."

More to come when I get more questions...
