| Bonding (continued. . .) |
| Clara and Cinnabun were extremely lucky that nothing more serious took place. It just so happens that their situation was a complete fluke; it was not Clara's fault that Opie escaped and Opie should not be considered a bad bunny for doing this. She was simply doing what nature told her to do. Unfortunately not all rabbits are as lucky as Cinnabun and they suffer a much worse fate. Rabbits are extremely territorial creatures and it is not unknown or uncommon for them to fight to the death proctecting what's their's. If your rabbit gets injured at any time and refuses to eat (as Cinnabun did), try the "bunny power shake." Please, if you are considering bonding two rabbits, take the time to do things right. By rushing the process you are almost guaranteed heartbreak in the end. If you are having a hard time bonding your rabbits, please, by all means contact the an animal shelter who specializes in rabbits regarding your dilemma. Most shelters are willing to coach owners through this exasperating process at little or no cost. And please, only attempt to bond SPAYED OR NEUTERED rabbits!! It takes only a second for an "accident" to occur and to have baby bunnies on the way... There are certainly enough rabbits out there. Leave the breeding to the professionals!! Good luck! * If you have any stories about bonding, we'd like to hear! Send any stories you may have to Jessica at [email protected]. Submissions are not guaranteed to be published on the site. We'd like to see a variety of subjects including good AND bad luck in bonding. Any information you have may greatly benefit other rabbit owners who are considering bonding two rabbits or are having problems with the process. Thanks for your help in making the site better!* Home |
