DECLINING NOUNS AND ADJECTIVES
HOW MANY CASES DOES GREEK HAVE? Greek has four cases:  Nominative, Genitive, Dative, and Accusa-tive.  If you have studied Latin, you may be wondering where the Ablative case is.  The Latin ablative case will be represented by either the Genitive or Dative case in Greek.
WHAT IS MEANT BY DECLINING? Declining a noun or adjective is to write or orally recite the noun in Greek along with its English meaning for each case.  You will better retain the meaning and the endings by declining each case in Greek with its English meaning rather than trying to take a shortcut by declining all the Greek and then all the English.  I dont think much neuron connecting occurs in the brain with the latter approach.
