Neighborhood Watch is a "team" approach in which the Livermore Police Department works hand in hand with you and your neighbors to reduce crime in our community. In order to reach this goal, we want you to become better acquainted with your neighbors while our Crime Prevention Coordinators show you how to protect yourself, your neighbors and your property from crime. Statistics and criminals alike verify that when neighbors organize, the opportunity for crime is drastically reduced.

Emergency 911
July 13,  2007
When using your cell phone to call for emergency assistance in Livermore, call 925-371-4987 instead of 9-1-1.  Better yet, program this number into your cell phone as your local emergency number. If you dial 911 from a cell phone, your call is routed to the CHP (not Livermore emergency dispatch), which could delay critical response time. Dispatch systems cannot currently identify the exact location of a cellular phone call, so be prepared to give your location to the emergency dispatcher.
Loud Stereos and Noise
Anytime there is loud disturbing noise, particularily car stereos, don't hestitate to call the police at 371-4987.   The Livermore municipal codes spell it out in Chapter  9.36. Sections 9.36.020 & 9.36.030.

Auto break-ins contiue to increase

Auto break-ins are increasing in town and we all need to be extremely vigilent.
Please immediately report any suspicious activity to the police at 371-4987

The Livermore Police Department has seen an increase in thefts from vehicles.   The most common method of entry has been unlocked vehicles.  Generally,  items stolen from the vehicles are not the vehicle radio but personal items left in  plain view.  These items consist of purses, backpacks, gym bags, cell phones, i- pods, GPS units, laptops and CDs.  The easiest way to prevent this from  happening to you is to first, remove these items from your vehicle or secure  them  in the trunk and second, lock your vehicle.  Even if you are only stepping  away for a moment, that is all it takes for a criminal to make you their next  victim.

The locations of the burglaries appear to be random and  they seem to be occurring at different hours of the day and night.

Do not leave running car unattended
Do not leave valuables in sight
Always lock your car

Youths 'Hanging out'
There have been groups of  male youths 'hanging out' in our complex.    Empty cans and bottles, cigarette butts and other trash is left behind and the presence of a group of young men/teens has created some trepidation among neighbors and their guests.  Please keep an eye out, often if they realize someone is watching they will quickly leave.    Don't hesitate to call  the police 371-4987 if you see any suspicious activity  and let me know if this continues to be a problem and I will try to arrange extra 'drive-thrus'
