| Warsaw Wally's HISTORY |
Wally's Home of the blues originally a residential home that spanned the length of the bar became Red Diamond in 1952. The Red Diamond served beer for 10 cents and sold pizza through a take out window at the east side of the bar. As the years passed, the Red Diamond would be sold and bought being re named to: CHOLLA BAY LOUIE"S VJ"S McGUIRES VJ's would be considered somewhat of a speakeasy. Although it was legal to sell alcohol, it was illegal to have "go-go" dancers, And 'go-go' dancers is what VJ's had. This was most likely the time when the building had it's first expansion. What was once a carport on the west side had become a stage, a dance floor and an area with tables and chairs. The second expansion at the east side of the bar is where you will find the pool tables, dartboard and the smallest mens room I have ever seen. The ladies room comes equipped with a bathtub. However, you will need to remove the boards that cover it up if you wanted to make use of it. In 1976 Walter Grynaiosky bought what was then Mc guires and re-named it to "Warsaw Wally's Home of the Blues". In 1977 Wally's was purchased by two married couples, Mr./Mrs. Lee Hall & Mr./Mrs. Walter Edwards. The two married couples remained partners for approximately 1 and a 1/2 years. In 1979, The Edwards were bought oput by the Halls' who became and still are the primary owners. Shortly after the buy out Lee Hall registared and trademarked the name"WARSAW WALLY'S HOME OF THE BLUES" in the state of Arizona The Warsaw Wally's experience is one that should not be missed. When you step into Wally's you will be surrounded by walls soaked with history and the sounds of the blues. |
