September 2 - 8 1998
On the night of the 7th Andy Hui Chi On ended his concert series. Before the show ended, Andy's girlfriend Sammi Cheng Sau Man suddenly stood up from the audience and sang "Only You Cannot Be Replaced" (Wai Duk Nei Si But Ho Chu Tai) with Andy.
During the encore, portion of the show, Andy finished the show with that song. Halfway through the song, Sammi who has been sitting in the audience all along suddenly grabbed a microphone and stood up to sing with Andy. The crowd immediately erupted and the mood was warm. After the song, just as Andy was turning around, Sammi immediately screamed, "Hui Chi On stand where you are!" Andy stopped and didn't say a word.
Sammi appeared to be rather excited as her speech sounded a little messed up. She said, "Don't I look pretty in person? What is today's date? Ha! I would really like to thank Hui Chi On for giving me such a pleasant and emotional evening...what did I want to say? Thanks to everyone who came tonight, without you the show couldn't go on. Now that the show went on, I can see in person Hui Chi On, this big nostril man. Finally, I have to say to you (Hui Chi On) from my heart, I..." the crowd responded, "...LOVE YOU!" Sammi, however, changed the subject, "am very hungry and waiting for you to eat. I have to represent your family, friends, and fans who support us, and say you have made me proud. That's it, that would be $3,000 please." Acting like the woman of the house, Sammi made Andy cry. Andy also bowed to her in appreciation.
At the celebration banquet, Andy said, "I really want to thank Sammi. I didn't know before hand she would sing. she said she was proud of me and I got so emotional I couldn't hold back the tear. Later I will treat all the friends who helped out to a holiday."
After that night, conceivably, Andy and Sammi's relationship would take a huge step. Will they publicize their romance now? Andy: "Our relationship has always been real good, but career always comes first for a man. Sammi's song and words indeed made the show 100% perfect. From now on if she needs anything I will definitely be there."
Before publicly thanking Sammi, Andy sang "Genius Idiot Dream" (Tin Joi Bat Chi Mong) for his late mother and almost broke into tears again. When Leung Bing (Edmond Leung Hong Man) and Kin Jai (Dicky Cheung Wai Kin) talked about their friendship, he was teary eye as well. |
