Dicky's Concert at Atlantic City - April 13, 1998

*As you read, you may read "Kathy: blah blah blah" which means I'm saying something*

As you know Dicky put a lot of effort to make this concert a success. I spoke with the bell boy at the lobby and they said Dicky was rehearsing all day and that Dicky is a very funny guy. I guess he's really friendly considering he took the time to joke with them. I stopped by the theater around 6pm on Saturday, after I had dinner with my friends, and heard Dicky rehearsing. I went back at 11pm and he was still there. At the bottom of this paragraph is a picture I took when I snucked in during the rehearsal, saying "please" 20 times to the guards really works! That's Dicky in the beige sweater and cap (Yes, it's that famous beige sweater I was talking about).

Dicky shared his concert with Lor Bik Ling, a Taiwanese singer and actress. She only speaks Mandarin, so I didn't really understood what she said. Dicky and Lor Bik Ling took turns performing, Lor Bik Ling took to the stage first. She performed some will known Mandarin songs and told some jokes. It was really funny when she had Eric, the back-up singer, translate what she was sayin into Cantonese. The thing that caught my eye was her costume. She had this whole sparkling beaded costume and when she took off her "cloak," it revealed a real skimpy outfit with consisted on a beaded garted belt and matching beaded "boots." It was so eye catching that I noticed some of the guys were drooling and moved closer to get a better look :P

After Lor Bik Ling performed, her first act, was that she introduced Dicky onto the stage. The audience was a bit stunned because he was not only bald, but painted his head blue.

The first song was from Dicky's "Aiya Aiya Chun Chun Nay" album. After his first song he explained to his still shocked audience the reason why he's bald. He said that he had to shave his head for a TV series that he is filming in Beijing. he joked that originally he wanted to leave it just the way it was, but the hotel thought that people might find him as bad luck, so Dicky had to come up with an idea. some suggested that he paint his head, so that's what he did. At first, he could only find green paint, but luckily at the last minute he found this great shade of crayon blue. Dicky wore a real interesting costume. Dicky was his usually funny self. He asked his audience whether they wanted Mandarin or Cantonese songs then whether they wanted fast or slow songs. The audience was very enthusiastic and shouted this and that. But being the wise crack Dicky said,"You must be silly to think you have a choice to choose. Don't you know that everything was rehearsed and set already beforehand?" Kathy: That was said in Cantonese. That literally cracked up the audience. At the bottom of this paragraph is the picture when he played this trick on the audience.

The next songs that Dicky sang was "Jan Jan Ga Ga" and "Aiya Aiya Chun Chun Nay." He was so energetic that I could barely keep my canera on him. I must apologize since that's why some of the pictures were blurry. I know a lot of people asked me. Yes, it's true he's even cuter in close up and in real life. He still has that mischieveous twinkle in his eyes that makes you speechless. I met some people waiting outside (old and young) and they all said his eyes are so captivating. Kathy: That is very true about his eyes.

Dicky sang one more song before giving the stage to Lor Bik Ling. It was also a song from the "Aiya Aiya Chun Chun Nay" album which he said thatn was never performed in public until now. The song isn't listed in his album cover, but if you look at his cassettetape it's the last song on side 1. Dicky has a really good voice because it was a really fast song and he performed without any flaws. Gosh he has really big lungs for such a small guy! Kathy: Wow!!! Dicky's very skinny as you can see and I don't notice that he has gotten fatter like some people have said.
