| CHAIN GUARD FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION (-53) CT-20 FABRICATION: The Chain Guard is a non structural member and can be fabricated from 1/16 in steel or aluminum. If using steel, weld the support brackets as indicated on Drawing-118. If using aluminum, drill brackets and attach with 1/8 in POP RIVETS. Use in rivets with a washer on the inside. INSTALLATION: Center guard over the chain. Center the forward support brackets on the Trunion forward cross brace. Clamp in place. Cycle the Trunion from its maximum lower to maximum upper position. See Drawing-104. Trim or bend the forward end of the guard if necessary to clear the CVT and seat vertical. Mark location of mounting bracket holes on the Trunion. (4 places) Weld 1/2 in, x 20 bolts in position on the Trunion cross braces as indicated on Drawing-118. Install guard over the mounting bolts and secure with fiber lock nuts or standard nuts and lock washers. Cycle the Trunion and verify clearance. This mounting method provides easy removal for inspection and maintenance of the chain and sprockets. This completes fabrication and installation of the chain guard. |
