Welcome to "our site",this website is made up for and by the Homeless of Huntington Westvirgina Our goal is to contribute to the society which we live in,which is mainly the downtown metro area of Huntington.There has been much talk on the streets of what needs to be done for the homeless,but remember we may be homeless,but we are not helpless!!In this site you will eventualy find help links,information that will benifit you,oppurtunities that may not be well known.We plan on financing our own safe haven for the homeless&low income,free of outside interference,we will maintain and be self supporting through our own contrabutions...Yes!!this means there is work involved!Like it says in the bible"if you dont work,you dont eat!"Please check out the links that are avaliable,visit often.There are few that have volunteered there time and money on this project.Remember,we reap what we sow..nothing from nothing leaves nothing!Also,your voice is important!!The squeeky wheel gets the grease!!It is not our intention to degrade or knock any other "non-profit"organization,but to find a solution to our own delimas.It is our beleif that we cant change the enviroment we live in, so we must learn to adapt.Usaly adapting means change.Thats our true mission.After years of red tape with the diffrent "non-profit"oragnazations in Huntington,we feel like it's time to stop whinning&crying and make the change ourselves.The organazitions in Huntington serve a very valuable purpose but do not address the real plight of the homeless.As a homeless person you know the importance of respect and the lack of it in this community.Threats,boycots and the like have not brought about much change,and if any,usaly have made it harder to acheive any progress.Talk is just that!Talk!NOW is your chance to help make the change!!Are you just going to sit on the plaza and complain or are you going to do something about??Your opion is valuable,you have the right to your opion.All responses will be included in the group(yes,we have our club up and going!),you may remain anonomys,we know that there are sometimes consequences and repercusions for standing up for ourselves.Do as you feel,but please,no violence or threats of violence!We as a hole are seeking the support of the whole community!We already have the stereotype of bum,drunks,were not worthless unless we beleive we are.I'm not worthless,and neither are you!!Dont beleive the LIE!! |
