Homeless Come Home

Restoring existing relationships and bringing home those who are temporarily homeless

Ten Years ago, to weeks after I moved home to Cimarron KS., a small farming town,my Father and I were going to the store.  As we went past main street, Dad and I saw a dirty, bearded man at the corner holding a sign: “will work for food”.  I think Dad helped him because Dade felt more sorry for me for just getting kicked ort of the rescue mission where I worked.  Dad took him to a restaurant, with me in tow.  Dad didn’t want me to talk so I did my best.  Dad asked him if he had any Family, the homeless man said “No” and dad believed him…but I didn’t.  After we ate, Dad took him to the hotel and put him up for the night.  As Dad wad driving me home he said: “David, I have a appointment to go to, while I gone, Just stay Home, do NOT go to the hotel to bother him.  I promised, but I lied.  Right after Dad left I went back to the hotel.  I found him drinking, and I gave the homeless man a choice… either he tell me where his Family is or I will call Sheriff Krammer.  He finally did tell me where his brother was, so I told him to come with me to the house so we could call his brother.

One year later I was working as a flagman on highway 50.  As I was holding up a line of cars and trucks for the pilot car, a truck driver got out of his semi and walked tword me.  (I found out later he looked so stern because the wind was in his eye’s)  He came right up on me and took my sholder and said… “David, thank you for getting in my face, it changed my life!” …the weird part of this whole story is his family did it all, I just let a horse to water.

The first week on March of 2003,  I went under the KS. Ave. Bridge in Topeka KS and found a guy by the name of Clinton Cadwallader hanging out under it.  I asked him why he wasn’t with his family and he said he had just gotten out of prisonand lost contact with his family – FOR NINE YEARS!  We went to the library to look up his last known relative.  He found his Aunt in Houston TX. and called her.  After some tears, she promptly called her sister (Clinton’s Mother) and the next week his Mother and Father drove from Houston to Topeka to take him…Home.  Would you like to talk to him and his family?  His phone # is 1 (832) 326-7714 or 1 (832) 563-3880.

You can help the homeless too…by acting as a third party between him and his Family, and send him…Home.  Please – could YOU support and promote the idea of Family as a resource for those who are Presently homeless?  You could change someone’s life so very fast by letting him use your phone and encouraging him to ask his family for help and shelter.  Thank you for helping the homeless come Home
