Dear KS Legislator,

I had just heard yesterday from Secretary Schalansky at the House SRS Budget Committee that a “team”, from KS SRS is looking at SR 1808 that you passed January 30 by Voice Vote.(…that suggests the use of one’s own Family as a real resource for those who are presently homeless

I am still concerned, however that they will look at the proclamation and say “Oh, that’s nice” and forget about it’s importance and implementation in KS SRS programs. I am also hopeful Dr. Bill Hagerman and his staff at the Kansas Dept. of Education also will include Family as a homeless resource in his homeless programs.

If you have any contact with any decision makers at KS SRS or Dept. of Education, or any other agency that serves homeless…non-profit, govt., or other, would you be able to ask how, and if, they will consider using Family as a real resource for those who are presently homeless?

Since The Senate did pass this, I am hopeful (and thankful) they believe in the Value of Family in a person’s life.
