introductions, ask him about his Family, and why he isn’t with them.

(s)he say’s (s)he has no Family, do not accept that…ask
where the sister lives…do not accept (s)he has no Family

Offer
to make a phone call to his/her family tonight.

If
(s)he doesn’t want to go to Family, ask if (s)he remembers just
10 years ago what it was like to have Family around, ask if (s)he
remembers what it was like in the place (s)he lived before (s)he became
homeless… “Pretty good life…huh?”

Suggest
to him or her to get a pre-paid calling card, perhaps you could give one out.
· Remember that you will probably only talk to the person for a very short time. It’s what you do in that time that makes the difference
