When looking for a church there are a few things that you want to find out.  Here are a few questions that you need to ask.

·         What is the fee for the church?  What does it include?

·         Is the wedding date you’ve chosen available?

·         What is the policy?

·         What is the capacity?

·         What are the pre-marriage requirements (if any)?

·         What is the parking availability?

·         What are the lighting options?

·         If using the musical equipment make sure it is checked first.

·         If using the sound system make sure it is checked first.

·         Where can you and your wedding party get dressed?

·         Does this area have electrical outlets (if needed) and a mirror?

·         Are there any restrictions on decorations, music, or photography and videography?

When it comes to the engagement ring you must know the five C’s of diamonds: cut, clarity, color, carat, and certification. 

 

The most popular cuts are the heart shape, pear, oval, marquise, brilliant, and emerald.  Clarity is the absence of blemishes or flaws.  If you are looking for a flawless diamond be prepared to spend a large amount of money.  The Gemological Institute of America grades all diamonds by letter.  The colors of the diamond varies.  The carat is how large the actual stone is.  A one carat diamond weights 100 points so a 50 point diamond is a half carat and so on. Ask the jeweler as to the point value instead of the traditional whole, half, and quarter size. 

 

When buying your diamond ring make sure that you always get certification.  The certification paper will include the grade and identity of the ring.  This paper is also used for insurance purposes when you go to add it to your policy.

Marriage License Information

 

A marriage license can be obtained at the Circuit Court in Bel Air between the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.  You will receive your printed marriage license the same day you apply, but this license will not be valid until two days after your application date.  (i.e. If applying on Thursday your license will be valid on Saturday.) 

 

When applying you will need the following information:      Full Names

                                                                                    Addresses (including zipcodes)

                                                                                    State Where Born

                                                                                    Age

 

If you have been married before you will also need the year and state divorced or widowed, unless this occurred in the past six months; whereas, you will be required to furnish a copy of your divorce decree or death certificate.

 

Identification will not be needed unless the parties are twenty-one or younger.  Minors sixteen to eighteen need parental permission to obtain a marriage license in Maryland.
