Hi New London, we’re WailingCity.com. Over the past few weeks we have received tons of e-mails with one question; what is WailingCity? WailingCity is an online zine dedicated to the city of New London and New London County. We like to think of ourselves as a community contributed zine. That means anyone and everyone can send in reviews, pictures, commentaries, interviews, etc. We are here solely to shamelessly promote the New London scene. Here are a few more FAQ

Who is WailingCity?

Now let us introduce ourselves properly. To keep things running, WailingCity has four devoted staff members. Shaun, Meghan, Marko and Anne have spent many years helping to promote the local scene.

WailingCity was founded by Shaun, from the local punk band The American Infidels. Shaun maintains the websites, writes show reviews, conducts interviews and is the acting editor of content.

Meghan runs the WailingCity picture department and also helps to maintain the websites. This multi-tasking machine can be found at most shows taking pictures and occasionally helping with show reviews. Meghan also plays in a local act called The Paul Brockett Roadshow.

Our staff music critic is Marko. Marko has been in the scene for a long time and knows a great deal about music. He also runs Marko's Punk Rock Jukebox on WCNI in New London (90.9, Thursdays at noon) and on WECS in Willimantic (90.1, Fridays at 11am).

Anne is a crucial part of WailingCity. She helps to provide our extensive show listings. Anne also takes pictures and helps out with reviews. Catch Anne in her acoustic act The Cavities.

What can you expect from WailingCity?

WailingCity.com is still in its infancy. Right now you can find show listings, show reviews and music reviews. We promise the pop-up ads will be gone shortly. In the coming months we hope to ad food reviews, art gallery listings and much more.

WailingCity.Com on MySpace is up and running. There you can find show listings, reviews, and music from featured local artists.

What should you not expect from WailingCity?

Please understand that our focus is on New London County, not Connecticut. If you are a band from out of the area we will gladly post your shows in New London County, we will not list however events outside of New London County.

And most importantly let it be known. In the world of zines, WailingCity is Switzerland. Gossip and personal beefs will not be posted or tolerated. We’re about unity here.

How can I contribute?

Send in photos, reviews or even rants, along with your name. All submissions will be credited to the author upon posting. So what are you waiting for?! Hopefully this introduction answers the bulk of your questions. Enjoy and thank you! -WC
