So a bunch of us local folk decided to show a little "New London love" and take a field trip down to Rudy’s in New Haven to see Ringers & Society For Rational Dress. Rudy’s is much like NL’s own Dutch Tavern, in the sense that it has that old New England Pub feel. Pictures of family and friends hung on the wall and gave you the comforting feeling of being in someone’s house. The confined space had heavily graffiti carved wooden tables with dim lighting overhead that made way to a pinball machine tucked away in the corner. Though slightly larger than The Dutch, and with the exception of a full bar, a small sidewalk patio outside, and pool table in the back,... most of us felt like we hadn’t even left the whaling city! Another difference between our two sister city pubs: although small, there was a stage at Rudy’s...and our NL boys rocked it! Society For Rational Dress followed two New Haven local bands, and Ringers headlined. A good amount of people came out to the show, and seemed into both bands. Both Society and Ringers had new songs to test out and got a pretty damn good reaction. There was definitely NL love in the room, and New Haven was receptive!! Rudy’s has not seen the last of our bands, that’s for sure! I’m more of a photographer than a show reviewer, but I felt the need to write a little something, so Ill leave it with... damn what a good show!! Now off to the pics! -Meghan
