6/23/06 Kream Coffee Shop: Dog Bite, Matt Gouette (show review)
I’ll start the review off with Dog Bite. I assume they played more than one set, but I was only able to stick around for one. Dog Bite is a four piece made up of two six-strings a stand up bass and drums. The lead vocalist swapped out his guitar for a banjo during one song a song. These guys have a good country/bluegrass sound going. The vocals were tight along with the back-up vocals. Their set was made up of originals and covers, all sounding great. I could see Dog Bite and PBR on the same bill.
Matt Gouette snuck in for a 15min set of acoustic songs. I was excited to see him play. It had probably been two years since I saw him perform last. I was excited to see him play, too bad I can’t write a proper review though. I couldn’t Fn’ hear him. Not due to a bad P.A., but what I saw as a rude audience.
Now I don’t go to many coffee house shows, so I’m not in step with the proper etiquette. As someone who does go to shows on a regular basis however, I think it is the rudest fricken thing to talk during someone’s set and raise your voice so you can be heard over the music. Quiet conversation is one thing, but come on! These people clapped after every song, when they didn’t even hear it. Oh yeah, lets clap so we look like we give a crap; screw those people.
That’s my review of Matt Gouettes set. I would have written a lot more, but I’m trying to keep these reviews clean. Ask me in person and Ill talk your ear off about it. -Shaun
