Clone of Guinness Irish Stout
Type of beer: Extract
Ingreadients:
7lbs Dark Malt extract
3/4 lb Crystal malt 80* L (Briefs)
1/3 lb Roasted barley (De Wolf-caissons)
1/3 lb Black Pat. (De Wolf-caissons)
2 oz Northern Brewer hops (pellets)
1 Pkg wyeast Liquid "irish ale yeast" #1084
Directions:
Into a boiling pot added 2 1/2 gallons of distilled water, Then added the crystal, Roasted and Black Pat. malt into a hop bag, which I placed in the water. Placed the water/Grain onto the stove at a med/high heat, for which let the grains just kind of steap for about an hour. When the water was just about to boil, I removed the grains and sparged with about a quart of warm water to get out any of the left over fermentables. After that let the wort reach a full boil to where I add the 7 lbs dark malt extract and let the pot come back to a full boil. When the water reached a full boil again I added the 2 oz of Northern brewer's hops and let them boil one hour. After the boil remove the hops and placed in cooling bath for about 40 minutes. When the wort is cool add it, to the fermenter with another 2.5 gallons of water. Let sit about 20 minutes then pitch the yeast. Cover and add a water lock, and wait for the magic to happen
Let the wort ferment for about 15 days then bottled. After the bottling I let the beer condition for around 2 weeks.
