Some would say that there is more light being beamed to earth these days by visitors from outer space than ever before.
Others, especially students of A COURSE IN MIRACLES, might say there is no difference between inner space and outer space, so the great expansion of light is coming from within.
Wherever you believe the light to be coming from, never before in history have there been so many enlightened beings walking the face of the earth at one time. The twenty-first century is an unbelievably wonderful time to be alive and by far the best time ever to be feeling the longing for spiritual opening.
In the old days, seekers traveled many days across deserts, swamps, and rugged mountains to be in the presence of a single enlightened teacher.
Nowadays for no more than the cost of a telephone call you can bring to your city several enlightened teachers whose work of unbelievable love opens students spiritually faster than ever before in history.
During the early twentieth century it often took at least 25 years to fully open up spiritually while living in the presence of a highly enlightened teacher.
In the twenty-first century, your opening can take as little as one weekend in your own city.

Salt Lake City is not what past generations of A COURSE IN MIRACLES students would have thought of as a Mecca for spiritual seekers. It's not a Mount Shasta where teachers and students have collected over the years, some of them half-baked, some of them fully enlightened, everyone pretty much blindly hoping for the best.
It might be said that spiritual opening in the twentieth century was more often than not the blind leading the blind, or the blind simply spinning around year after year making progress in a relatively small circle. For example, an intellectual understanding of what A COURSE IN MIRACLES is saying has nothing whatsoever to do with the overwhelming spiritual opening and bright radiant experience A COURSE IN MIRACLES really offers its readers.
Despite all this spinning around in circles and going nowhere, there has been an increase in number of those hoping to someday see. Increased numbers of seekers means the bowstring has been pulled tightly back... ready for a great shooting foward in the twenty-first century.
So what happened in Salt Lake City during a recent weekend in July represents the new kind of spiritual intensive. No more tip-toeing. No more pretending that intellectualism can take you to the experience you've been denying since the beginning of time. No more meditating for 25 years to achieve what can be achieved in 25 minutes or 25 seconds.
To those who were present, the Salt Lake City experience felt like the opening spiritual shot of the long-awaited twenty-first century. It was as if the technology of instantaneous travel had been introduced to replace old-fashioned space ships.
Does this mean that half-blind teachers who rely on intellectualism and other ego devices are suddenly going to step aside and let the enlightened teachers who traveled to Salt Lake City (and who will travel to your city if asked) do the twenty-first century speed-up work the Holy Spirit would have them do?
You make the call. It would be like the Pharisees and Saducees getting out of the way and letting Jesus teach in the way Jesus teaches.
If you suspect the more conventional teachers in the COURSE IN MIRACLES movement will scream and rent their clothes and go to court and throw stones, you're probably right.
How dare these traveling enlightened ones claim to offer a gift which cannot be purchased in New York, California, or other Course in Miracles pop spots!
There's an old saying, "Nothing good can come out of Nazareth."
But that saying was started by Pharisees and Saducees who were really saying, "If those of us who do it the old way don't approve, then it's no good."
Does this mean the most dazzlingly enlightened teachers with the newest, most powerful gifts to give will always be resisted?
Maybe so... but they don't have to be resisted by you. You have a choice. You can spin around forever, listening to the intellectuals and little league teachers. Or you can come up and play in the major leagues.
What does it take to play in the major leagues?
How about major league commitment? How about total honesty and full endeavor?
How does one get in touch with such a thorough commitment inside oneself?
Have you tried closing your eyes and saying with all the power of your being, with every seeming cell of your seeming body and every nook and crany or your future far-reaching aura, "I am being called to TOTAL enlightenment and I will not settle for anything less!"
Have you tried saying this so often that it becomes second-nature, a moment to moment living mantra never not present? "I will not settle for anything less than total enlightenment!"
There is an old saying that when the student is ready the teacher appears. It can't be any other way since the entire universe is a reflection of your state of mind. The world shows you nothing other than exactly what you have set your mind to see.
In July 2000, teachers appeared in Salt Lake City and they are ready if asked to appear anywhere to beam light to earth, so to speak, and open spiritually all those willing as has never before been seen on earth. Is it you who have asked them to appear?
Is it you who have possibly created for yourself a fairly happy dream but are still looking around and seeing pain, sickness, suffering, and death... and you're tired of seeing what you're seeing?"
Is it you who are fairly happy with your spiritual progress and yet inside yourself your own honesty begs you to hear its message that there is so much more which you cannot achieve with your old twentieth century commitment?
Is it you who deep down inside really, really, really want the experience of Heaven and only the experience of Heaven... unending joy and constant unspeakable love?
For a lucky few, the gate to Heaven will be spelled "a weekend intensive in my city with my twenty-first century opening to unbelievable glory and rapture like my brothers experienced in Salt Lake City."
