X-Files Basement Office
7.30 am - Morning after the Brian Veers murder case.(refer
'Negative Image' Thread # 78302.1)

"What are you doin' in my seat?" Doggett took off his suit coat
and hung it on the coat stand.  Monica just smiled and watched
as he approached her. She loved the mornings he would come into
the office, hang up his coat and begin rolling up his
shirtsleeves.  It was such a sexy, manly thing to do and she
just lapped up the show. Those bare, toned forearms were such a
turn-on.

"This is my desk, you have your own Mon. C'mon, hop it!" Doggett
was grinning the whole time he said this.

"But John baby. I just want to sit where your ass has been." She
got up, brushed past him, gave him a playful pinch on the butt
and whispered near his ear. "And a fine ass it is too."
He had to resist the strong urge to grab her and throw her down
on the desk there and then. Instead he gave her a sideways look
and said,

"As much as I love hearing this sex talk Mon we have to be
careful what we say here."
They were both aware that their newly formed relationship had to
be guarded at all costs.

The X-Files had been a division Monica Reyes had sought after
for a long time now. The last thing she wanted was to jeopardize
her position here by revealing the now consummated relationship
with her partner John Doggett.

Doggett remembered back to the previous night and smiled at the
thought of Reyes in his bed and in his arms. They'd just solved
an old murder case and had celebrated with a night of
spectacular sex. He was not as fond of the X-Files as she, and
all the bizarre happenings it brought with it, but he was fond
of Monica and wanted to remain her FBI partner indefinitely.

"All right John. I'll resist the urge to feel you up every time
I'm with you as long as you make it up to me when we're alone
later." She flopped down at her desk chuckling and shuffling
papers.

There was a knock on the open door and Assistant Director
Skinner popped his head around the corner.
"What was that about being alone together later? You two
fraternizing behind our backs?"

..........................

To Doggett's and Reyes' relief Skinner was actually smiling as
he said this, obviously not having heard their whole
conversation.
Noticing this, Reyes quickly replied,
"Yes of course, Assistant Director, John and myself have been
secretly having a covert relationship for months now."
"Monica!" Doggett was a little shocked.

She tried to keep a straight face but when Skinner was too
silent she let out a laugh and the others joined in the joke.
The air cleared.

"So AD Skinner, how can we help you?" Doggett decided to change
the subject.

He threw the file down on the nearest desk, Monica's.

"There's a case for you two." He looked from one agent to the
other then continued. "Three years ago there was a series of
murders all unsolved. Each victim was found dead at the scene
and the cause of death each time inconclusive."
"Inconclusive, sir?" Reyes was curious. Skinner picked up the
file again and flipped through the pages.
"It says here that after extensive investigation and autopsies
the cause of death was not determined. It was just as though
they'd dropped dead in their tracks."

"I assume these cases were linked in some way." Reyes gestured
Skinner for a look at the file. "Were there any other clues that
led investigators to believe that these murders were committed
by the same person?"

"They all had the letter 'M' carved into their chests." Reyes
had read that section of the file and winced at the thought.

"You say these murders happened three years ago?" Doggett needed
confirmation. "Why bring them up now? Why is it now suddenly an
x-file?" Skinner paused before answering probably wanting the
two agents to take in everything he said.

"It's started happening again, and this time one of the victims
spoke just before she died at the scene."

"What did she say?" Both partners were hooked.
"She said that she was tricked."
"I still don't get it. Why is it an x-file, sir?" Doggett
questioned.
"She said she didn't see her assailant but they'd used a 'spell'
on her. That's all she could say before she died." Both agents
raised their eyebrows with curiosity.

"I've booked you on a flight to Boston, for tomorrow morning.
That'll give you the rest of today to do the necessary reading
and research." He went to leave and then stopped and turned back
to them. "And by the way, I've asked Scully to join you. Her
medical expertise may be needed on this one." He turned to leave
again but added as he left the room. "And she'll hopefully keep
you two out of mischief."

Falls Creek, Virginia
6.30 am next morning

Reyes' back was a little stiff. She'd woken up in an
uncomfortable position and needed a good stretch.

"Monica, that was my nose!"
"Oh sorry John. Just stretching a little." She rolled over to
her still surfacing partner and rested an arm over his bare
chest.

"Last night was just the best John." Monica nuzzled her nose
into his cheek and he moved to give her a morning kiss. "How did
you learn to do that? I have never in my life been given such
wonderful oral attention."

"You bring it out in me Monica," he smiled and kissed her again.
Reyes climbed on top of Doggett and kissed his nose. Their warm
bodies nestled close once again building up the desire they'd
felt many times the night before. Mouths were warm and soft and
the kiss was tender. Reyes felt him harden against her, silently
telling her again he wanted her to be one with him.

"John, I'm sore and stiff from last night's sex but you're just
too hard to resist." As he smiled and ran exploring fingers down
her back she felt uncontrollable desire between her legs. With
her knees either side of his hips and hands on his shoulders she
lifted herself and felt his erection on her already swollen
clit.
With one hand she felt his dick and guided it into her.

Looking into his clear blue desire filled eyes she deliberately
moved slowly down on his cock, making her legs wider, relaxing
her muscles to take in as much of him as she could. It felt
wonderful inside her. He filled her with perfection. Doggett
began moving to meet her as she used her leg muscles to rock
faster.
Her gym work had come in handy here. All those months of weights
training and knee lifts had paid off.

"Monica, I don't know why we didn't do this sooner. This is
fucking awesome." Doggett breathed out the words.
"John, don't talk, just fuck me!"
He moved his hands over her hips and pulled her into him,
obeying her request non-verbally.

Rocking more now she reached down to kiss him again. She wanted
to feel him inside her in more than one way. They pressed
tongues together feeling the wet hotness. They drank each
other's juices hungrily. Reyes loved the way she felt his nose
on her cheek and the flutter of his breath almost tickling her
skin.
The feel of his morning stubble was such a turn-on, she began
licking it as they'd come up for air, then went back to his
fiery mouth.

Doggett broke the kiss to concentrate now on what was happening
below. It had been building up strongly and their bodies were so
charged with sexual readiness that the room was thick with the
echoes of their moans and groans.
Doggett whispered, his hot breath in her ear,
"Enjoying this as much as me?" With a few more strokes he let
out his love juices into her. The pulse of his cock pumping was
enough to set her charge.
Like a dynamite wick slowly crackling towards detonation so was
the onset of her orgasm until she finally exploded.
Every pore of her body was on fire, sizzling and bubbling for
this man underneath her.

It took what seemed like eons before either of them could move.
Any sudden movement now could be emotionally painful. Reyes gave
Doggett another syrupy kiss before dislodging, noticing his
calm, sweet face looking at her.

"What John?" Reyes smiled and quietly laughed at this new
expression as she once again lay beside him.
He rolled onto his side to face her and spoke,

"How are we going to possibly keep this secret Monica? I just
wanna shout it from the top of the J Edgar Hoover building that
I just made love to my FBI partner Monica Reyes."
"Go on, do it! I dare you! And do it naked too." They both
chuckled.

"C'mon, let's have our shower," Reyes began to get out of bed.
"We've only got a couple of hours before our flight leaves."
................................

Falls Creek, Virginia
7.30am

The doorbell kept ringing.
Doggett and Reyes finally heard it through the gentle hum of the
shower spray.
"I'll get it." Doggett got out of the shower and still wet he
went downstairs wrapping a towel around his waist.

"Scully!" Doggett was obviously surprised to see her.
"Well Agent Doggett. I thought you'd be dressed by now. You did
say 7.30 for me to be here, didn't you?" She looked over his
wet, near naked body and was definitely impressed with what
caught her eyes. This man was lean and mean. The water droplets
on his body glistened, giving his skin an almost magical
quality. Why hadn't she noticed this before. The look of
surprise on his face baffled her.

"Agent Doggett? Aren't you going to let me in?" She gave him one
of her sideways glances.
"Yes, of course." Doggett came out of his momentary stupor.
"Shit, did I say 7.30? I'd totally forgotten."
"Okay, I'll wait around for you to dress then we'll ring for a
cab and pick up Agent Reyes on the way."

Just then there was a voice from the top of the stairs.
"John, who was it?" Reyes was coming down, hair wet and combed
back, dressed only in one of Doggett's blue shirts.

Scully's eyes widened and her jaw dropped as she looked up to
where the voice was coming from and the state of Reyes' undress.
She then looked back to see an uncomfortable looking Doggett.

"John, tell me this is not what it looks like. You're sleeping
with your partner?" At the sound of Scully's voice Reyes stopped
still halfway down the stairs.

"Dana!' Reyes obviously sounded surprised to see her too. This
was not a good situation to be in. Looking across to Doggett she
knew he would be no help, his eyes had diverted to the ground.
She had to think on her feet.

"Oh Dana, you're early."
"Now I'm starting to regret that fact."
"I don't follow you Dana."
"Agent Reyes you must know the ramifications of this, sleeping
with your partner." Reyes heard the unfamiliar edge to her voice
and wondered whether Scully was actually upset about this
discovery. She knew that Doggett held a torch for Scully but
hadn't believed it had been reciprocated in any way. This made
Reyes a little uncomfortable. If Dana started going after John
then she really could not guess what direction it would take.

"Oh Dana," Reyes laughed. "You really think I spent the night
here with John?" Scully waited for the explanation and Doggett
lifted his head and his eyes widened.
"I suppose it does look like that." She looked down at the shirt
she was wearing. "Actually, I was riding my bike over here and
some wanker drove past and splashed mud all over me. John was
kind enough to let me use his spare shower while my clothes are
washing." Reyes kept a straight face as she continued down the
stairs.
"Want some coffee? I'm sure John won't mind if we use his
kitchen." Scully still looked a little skeptical as she searched
Doggett's face.

"I'm sorry John for jumping to conclusions. I know you wouldn't
deliberately fuck up your career for a little sex on the side.
That's not like you." As she said this she moved up closer to
him and rested a hand on his forearm.  The move seemed so
intimate. She rarely touched him and he felt an unidentified
knot in his stomach.

"So the 'M' carved onto the victims' chests, does the file say
anything about the significance of this?" Scully questioned the
agents opposite her.
They'd decided to go over the particulars of the case while
having afternoon tea in the motel's coffee shop.

"No," mentioned Reyes. "Apart from the fact that it was a lower
case 'm'.
Doggett idly flipped through the file papers then stopped, a
look of enlightenment and frustration on his face.

"Who the fuck were the original investigators on this case?" He
looked back to the original page.
"What is it John?" Reyes questioned and Scully waited for the
response.
"Agents Boral and Metcalf, typical! Lazy asses!" He looked up at
the two attractive females before him.

"What do you notice about the victims' names? Tamara Sayers,
Melanie Booker, Jeremy Holden, Malachi Harper...?"
Reyes interrupted,
"The number of syllables in their names." Then Scully said
slowly.
"They all have an 'M' in their first name and not in the
second."

"Exactly. Also there's something else here you should know
before we proceed with a course of action. Each of the victims
had had consensual sex just before they died."
They all looked at each other wide-eyed. Now that was a twist
they weren't expecting.

"How?" Reyes was almost speechless.
"Well apart from being drugged or coerced in some manner I don't
know, that's what we'll have to figure out. Didn't Skinner say
they though they had a spell put on them?"

Monica made her excuses to visit the bathroom leaving Scully
alone with Doggett. When she was effectively out of earshot
Scully pulled her chair up closer to him and rested a hand
lightly on his forearm. This was starting to become a habit. Out
of all the months they'd worked together as partners before
Agent Reyes came on the scene he hadn't remembered her touching
him once, now twice in the one day? Did she realise what this
could do to a man? It was such a simple gesture but made him
wonder at her motives. She searched out his gaze and spoke.

"John, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Only if you're thinking of Monica Reyes."
"Uh-huh, same number of syllables, 'M' in the first name. If
there really is a pattern here we may have a course of action to
flush out this murderer."
"Or murderers," Doggett added. "It may explain the consensual
sex prior to death of these men and women."
"Unless of course the killer is bisexual."
"We'll just have to leave our options open."

All this time Doggett had not discouraged Scully's hand on his
arm even as she began to absently stroke the material of his
shirt sleeves feeling the suppleness underneath. In fact he
enjoyed this guilty pleasure.
This hadn't gone unnoticed by Reyes as she came back from the
bathroom. She was watching as she sat down and squirmed in her
chair deciding whether to comment. She did notice Scully's hand
stay where it was even when Doggett moved his arm away
nervously.

Scully had been oblivious to Reyes' discomfort. If she'd known
about the two agents' sexual relationship she probably wouldn't
have even made that subtle move on Doggett. She was beginning to
notice her partner for the desirable man that he was. The pale
blue shirt set off the almost transparent colour of his eyes, as
he moved she had noticed the faint hint of his shapely body
underneath. He was strong and opinionated yet soft and
compliable when it counted.

Scully got up from the table.
"Well Monica, John, I'll let you two talk. I'll ring Skinner and
let him know what we've discovered."

As Scully got up so did Doggett. She inwardly smiled at the
gentlemanly gesture and warmed to the thought of how old-
fashioned this formality seemed.

Holiday Inn Motel, Boston
Doggett's Room 113
4.30 pm

John could tell Monica was feeling uneasy. Her normally friendly
demeanour had changed. She was showing aloofness he was not
often accustomed to.
"Monica, talk to me." He edged up to her on the bed and wrapped
an arm around her. She didn't lean into him like she normally
did.

She avoided eye contact and said,

"John, I want you to tell me the truth now. Our relationship can
only grow if we're honest with one another.' He almost knew what
she was going to say. He remembered the look she had on her face
when she saw Scully's hand on his arm playing with his
shirtsleeve and his sexy, strong arm underneath.

"What is it Monica?" He really didn't want to have to talk about
this, not now.

"Do you still have feelings for Dana?" There, she said it.
Doggett gave her a squeeze.

"Of course I have feelings for Dana, she was my partner for a
year."
"No John, I mean romantic feelings." She waited for what seemed
like ages for a reply. Her heart sank.

"Monica." He drew her up onto his lap and moved her chin around
to look at him squarely in the face.
"I have loved Scully but she's never shown the same affection
for me. I want you now. I want to be with you not her." She just
knew her man was being honest.

He pulled her shirt partly out of her pants and placed his hand
on the soft skin of her back.

"You know Monica." He had that glint in his eye, she knew
exactly what he was thinking.
"John we can't do this here, Scully's just next door."
"She won't have to know. We have about an hour before we said
we'd meet her." He was beginning to know her vulnerable spots
now and ran a thumb down her spine. She arched gently back,
desire filling her body.

"John, you know what that does to me." He pulled her shirt the
rest of the way out of its confines and began to undo her
buttons.
He moved his hands up her bare sides and up over shoulders and
down her arms bringing the shirt with them. She felt a shiver
over her nipples but not from the cold.

"I feel really guilty about this John, she gasped as he ran
fingers over her nipples with one hand and undid her bra with
the other.
"And doesn't that make it all the more exciting?" He had her bra
off now and was licking and sucking the hard nubs. Reyes loved
it when he did this. He had just the right pressure and left his
hot tongue in just the right places for just the right amount of
time.

"C'mon John, off with the clothes and let's get into bed.
They did so and he kept exploring her naked body with his tongue
and mouth.
When he finally reached between her legs after teasing her
sensitive skin all around the area first she couldn't hold on
any longer. It took about three licks and she came.

"Oh sorry John, I couldn't wait for you." He just smiled and
continued his onslaught of her fevered body.
How could he do this? How could this man bring her to orgasm
once then know he could do it again? Just the way he moved his
hands over her skin and the places he kissed her were enough for
her to feel prolonged bliss.

When he finally entered her she was fully primed for another
climax.
The look on his face was priceless as he pushed inside. She let
him take all the time he needed for his own satisfaction, it was
his turn now.

That butt of his was so damn enticing. As he stroked inside her,
her hands felt over the contours of his ass feeling the muscles
tense and relax with each thrust.
He wanted to go further in so lifted her legs to his shoulders.
He was pumping with force now. She could feel the slightest
rubbing on her clit as he did this and she knew she was on the
verge of coming again.

"Monica," he groaned her name just before he ejaculated inside
her. She then came deliciously for the second time that
afternoon.
They dozed a little, nestled together and didn't hear the sound
of a key in the door and someone entering the room.

"Monica?" said the stunned voice. The drowsy couple was shocked
out of their delirium.

"Brad, what are you doing here?"
............................

Holiday Inn Motel, Boston

5.30 pm

"What am I doing here? You're asking me?" Assistant Director
Follmer looked at the two naked agents in the bed and then at
their clothes strewn over the ground.

"I don't even need to ask what you've been doing." He looked
half-stunned, half-angry.

Just then there was a voice at the door.

"Assistant Director?" It was Scully. She was there to meet up
with Doggett and Reyes and they had been dozing for a little too
long.

Brad looked again at the couple in bed then at Scully at the
door. He walked up to her and ushered her out of the door before
she could see anything.

"What's happening? What's been going on in there?" John and
Monica couldn't hear the rest of the conversation as they
quickly collected their clothes.

"John, I'm going to have a quick shower in my room next door."
She was dressing again. "Don't worry, she doesn't have to know a
thing."
"But Follmer? You know he has a thing against me. This is not
good Monica."
"Don't worry John, leave it all to me. I'll talk with him."  She
smoothed down her clothes, gave him a kiss on the cheek and left
the room.

The door to the room next door was ajar and she could hear
voices from inside. She tried to make out what they were saying
but only heard scattered phrases *with a woman* and  *Agent
Doggett*.

"Brad, is that you?" Monica tried to act surprised to see him.
"What are you doing here in Boston." He looked up. Monica
wondered what he'd been telling Scully but she already had an
idea.

"Monica, we need to talk."
"You're dead right we need to talk." She felt she was playing
the game well.
"Monica," Scully looked a little shaken. "Did you know about
this? About Agent Doggett?"
"What about Agent Doggett?"
"That the Assistant Director here found him, he was in bed with
a woman and she's probably still in there right now." Her head
faced the direction of the adjoining wall.
"No, well he's a quick worker all right." She hoped there was a
real look of surprise on her face as her gaze went across to
Follmer. "Well I suppose that's his prerogative. He is a
handsome, single man and he was on a break."

"You don't care about this?" Scully was confused. Monica tried
to look nonchalant and just shook her head.
"Look Dana, Brad, I've been out following a lead and I'm feeling
a little grimy. I'm going to take a shower. Let's talk soon,
okay?" She turned to Follmer. "And you! We need to know why you
felt the need to be here."

Reyes was relieved that Follmer hadn't told Scully the truth. As
she undressed and stepped into the hot beads of water she
worried about the implications of she and Doggett being caught.
She was going to have to do some serious negotiating with Brad,
her former lover. This had been a serious misdemeanour.

"So Agents, Scully, in the light of the seriousness of this case
I thought it prudent for me to be here at this time." Follmer
took a bite of his prime rib steak.

"It would have been nice to be given a heads up on this Mr.
Follmer." Doggett was still annoyed. Follmer just gave Doggett
one of his wry smiles and continued,
"I've also been looking into this case and it looks as though
there is a way to proceed here."

"And Brad, what did you have in mind?" Reyes took a sip out of
her white wine glass. Scully and Doggett looked on, listening.

"We need to go undercover to try to flush out this killer."
"And what did you have in mind?" Scully had rearranged the food
on her plate but she was obviously not very hungry. Doggett
noticed this but didn't question. He had an inkling that it was
due to the fact that she knew of his liaison that afternoon. He
had been relieved when he found out that Scully didn't know the
whole truth. Reyes could be quite persuasive when it came to
Assistant Director Follmer. That could work to their advantage.

Brad looked across to Monica who knew what he was going to say.
"You know the danger involved in doing this Monica, but it has
to be you. You know that."
"Yes, I know. Monica Reyes, the same number of syllables as the
victims and an 'M' in my first name. I'll be fine."
"We will set you up with all the right protection, we'll be with
you every step of the way." Brad reached out and lightly touched
her shoulder as a kind of reassurance.

"Follmer, I don't like this at all." Doggett said almost under
his breath. "You're putting Agent Reyes in grave danger by
making her do this."
"I'm not *making* her do anything. This was her decision."
"Monica?" Doggett's brow furrowed. "Is that true?"

"Yes John, who else do we know who could do this? I have all the
right training, you know that. I'm not going to do anything
silly to botch this up and give it all away." Doggett conceded
but was still uncomfortable. His gaze turned back to Follmer.

"So what now? Where do we go from here?"
"Well we know how he selects his victims. We know from the case
history that he has frequented a few bars in the city. We drop a
few words around those bars, letting them know about Monica
Reyes and then we wait."

A cell phone rang. Both Doggett and Follmer instinctively went
for theirs but it was Scully's.

"Hello, Scully here." The others looked on as she spoke. "Uh-
huh. Yes. You're kidding me. All right Assistant Director I'll
get right onto it." Scully put her phone away. "That was
Assistant Director Skinner. There's been another murder."

..................................

McDonnell's Bar
3.30 pm The next afternoon

Monica sat at the bar, wine glass in hand, casually surveying
the room. She was being careful that her gaze not linger too
long on the FBI men watching her back. Doggett and Follmer were
there at a table in the corner of the room casually drinking and
chatting, all the while very aware of what was going on around
them.
Scully had been called away to autopsy the latest victim and
they were waiting on her call at any time.

A few men had approached Monica in the last hour but whatever
she'd said to them they left with grins on their faces. Doggett
chuckled at this thinking <<trust Monica to think up some line
to get rid of them and for them to still be happy>>.
This latest man was persistent though. He'd ordered her another
wine and she'd accepted. They had to trust Monica that there was
a reason for her acceptance of his offer. They'd been happily
chatting for about twenty minutes now. Doggett and Follmer took
careful note of his appearance and mannerisms.

"So Mr. Doggett, we haven't had a chance to chat alone since
your little, shall we say, indiscretion yesterday afternoon."
"No Mr. Follmer, we haven't, but I do appreciate you keeping
your mouth shut on this one." He shifted a little uncomfortably.
The man beside him held a figurative bomb in his hand. This
*bomb* could be detonated at any time probably causing both
Reyes and he to lose their jobs.

"You know it has to stop here." Follmer looked a little smug as
he said this. "So you agree, you won't sleep with her again?"
Doggett reluctantly nodded.
He really wouldn't be able to get Monica out of his mind. She
had grown on him, she was part of him now. How could he possibly
not think of her that way? How could he not touch her when she
was near? How could he never make love to her again? Follmer
noticed Doggett's mixed signals so pressed further.

"Agent Doggett, perhaps you might like a transfer to help you
make your final decision?"
"No!" Doggett shook his head slowly. "No, I want to be her
partner. I know what I have to do. For the good of the FBI and
the X-Files I'll keep my hands off her."

"Great, then let's get on with the task at hand." Follmer
inwardly smiled.

Both men gasped. Where was Monica? They had been momentarily
distracted and hadn't seen her leave.

"Fuck! Where is she?" Doggett got up from the table and looked
around the room. Follmer silently and without too much fuss
walked around to every extremity of the place searching.

Meanwhile Reyes had gone to the bathroom after she'd
successfully said good-bye to the latest man.

She looked in the mirror thinking she should have made eye
contact with Doggett and Follmer before she came in here but
they had been deep in conversation. Well, what was the harm in
ducking in here quickly. She dried her hands then paused. What
was that? She sensed something close by, something very
alluring. A sense of euphoria took over her body and she just
had to follow her instincts.

"Fuck!" Doggett was angry with himself for being distracted. He
was also angry at Follmer for being the reason for his
distraction.
"Can't find her." Follmer came back a little breathless. "Maybe
she went to the bathroom."
Doggett relaxed a little. "That has to be it. Let's go." As they
turned they just saw the back of Reyes leaving by the front
door. Both agents raced outside.

"Monica!" Doggett yelled down the street. She was nowhere to be
seen. "Monica!" He yelled again. Each man ran to opposite street
corners looking everywhere around him.
Every avenue explored came up with nothing.

Doggett banged his fist into the nearby wall with frustration,
"No!!!"

.....................................

Somewhere in Boston
Sometime in the evening

Monica Reyes came to in a dark, musty smelling room. She could
just make out the shapes of what looked like boxes and maybe
cupboards.
Her head hurt almost like a hangover, she didn't know why. Her
wrists and ankles were bound.
It took her a few more moments to realise the enormity of the
situation. She had been lured here somehow into the serial
killer's lair.
Why had she gone into the bathroom without Doggett and Follmer
knowing? What a foolish thing to do!

John and Brad would now know what had happened, that beyond her
control she had followed the killer outside the hotel. After
that she'd had no recollection of events leading up to her being
in her current predicament.

She ached inside knowing that John would be frantic for her and
more so than just a partner. She was his lover now. Was she in
love with him? Maybe it was too early to tell but she knew John
would not be getting any sleep until he found her again.

This gave her a little comfort but she also knew she couldn't
just sit back and do nothing. She tried to stand and jump over
to what looked like the door. She had been trained for this kind
of imprisonment, for circumstances like this but could she
handle this actual situation. She knew she had to keep a level
head not matter what.

She banged on the door and called out,

"Is anyone there? Hello!" As no one answered she assumed she had
been left here alone for the time being or they didn't want to
talk quite yet. She was alone with her thoughts and remembered
back to the case files. Fear started to well up inside as she
thought about what this killer did to his victims. Somehow he'd
had consensual sex then killed them leaving the letter 'm'
carved on their chests. She felt absently over her own chest
relieved she was at least still intact.

Monica knew that Scully had been performing an autopsy that
afternoon and wondered whether the results had shown anything
conclusive. Even though she knew John Doggett wouldn't rest
until he found her she couldn't help feeling that spark of blind
panic that was welling up inside her if she wasn't found in
time.

She was ready to call out again for attention.
..............

Basement Office
8.30 pm

"John Doggett."
"John, this is Dana." There was momentary silence as Doggett
realised Scully probably had some answers after the recent
autopsy.

He had been frantic after Reyes' disappearance. His mind had
been working overtime thinking the worst. How would she be
feeling now? What if she'd been raped? What if she was lying
somewhere dead?
It had been four hours now with no clue as to Reyes'
whereabouts. Doggett couldn't focus on anything but finding
clues to locate his lover.

"Dana?" She knew he was hanging on for this call but also
realised there was not much to go on yet. "Tell me something I
need to know."

"Well John, I have a couple of things I can tell you over the
phone but I'd really like you to come down here, there's
something more that you need to see for yourself."
"Okay," he was already on his way as he kept talking on his cell
phone. "What is there Dana?"

"As you know I was curious about how the victims all came to
have consensual sex with the killer before they died." Doggett's
heart did a nose-dive at that thought. He would never forgive
himself if Reyes was coerced into sex with someone else. The
thought of someone else touching places on and in her body that
were only for him was painful.
Scully sensed his despair. "I know John, but let's not think the
worst just now, Monica is a strong woman, she has been trained
for situations like these."

Doggett, jacket in hand, hit the button on the elevator.

"Yes but Dana, she wasn't strong enough to resist following the
assailant today from the bar."

He entered the door and pushed the button for the parking
garage.

"I know and that's where my discovery comes in."

Somewhere in Boston
Sometime in the evening

Monica's worst fears were beginning to bubble to the surface as
she sat there in total darkness and utter silence. There was no
sound to suggest where she was. No lapping of water as if by the
bay, no traffic sounds, no birds, nothing, only her shallow
breathing. The little light that had come from a high window,
too high to reach, had now gone suggesting it was night.
She began to shiver uncontrollably and her earlier resolve was
beginning to wear. She was hungry, cold and was dying to visit
the bathroom. A nice hot shower wouldn't go astray now.

Was that a noise? She heard a faraway clicking sound and her
pulse jumped.  Moments later she saw a flicker of light under
the door and the sound of someone whispering.

The door unlocked and she sat bolt-upright waiting. A torch
shone in her face.

"Get up!" said a gruff voice. When she didn't get up straight
away she felt a hand on her elbow and she was roughly yanked up
to her feet. She still couldn't see very well, the light made
her eyes smart.

'Who are you? What do you want?" Monica was pulled from the
room, the fingers digging painfully into her arm.

It was only when she was thrown in a chair did the overhead
light go on and she could see the assailant.
What she saw surprised her.

Boston Memorial Hospital
Autopsy Lab
9pm

Doggett flew into the autopsy room.

"What do you have for me Dana?" Scully, still dressed in
surgical whites looked towards the voice behind her. She took
off her facemask and latex gloves and proceeded to talk slowly.
As she did so she noticed the concern on Doggett's face and felt
for him. It was his partner who had been abducted by a mad man,
he was logically upset and anxious that she be found alive and
well.

How was it that she hadn't noticed it before? Looking at the man
before her was almost like she was looking at him for the first
time. He was an attractive man in many ways. His looks were
rugged but smooth, he was strong yet sensitive, intelligent but
knew and accepted his shortcomings and she loved his voice, the
way it conveyed so many emotions.  She felt an overwhelming
desire to look after him tonight. A team had been working around
the clock on this case and there was no certainty Monica would
be found in the near future. Scully didn't want Doggett to go
home to an empty house.

"John," she finally said, resting a hand on his arm. This time
she moved her hand down and linked fingers with his and led him
to the side of autopsy table with the body of the latest victim
lying on top.

"I want to show you something." Doggett enjoyed the feel of her
fingers in his and accepted her hand.

Apart from the file pictures he was now seeing the chest carving
for the first time.

"Have a look at this, what do you see?" Scully looked up into
his eyes and was keen to see the change in Doggett's expression.
She could tell that he liked holding hands but he was now
studying the corpse with one of his probing stares.

"It looks like an 'm' alright."
"Are you sure? Have another look." Doggett realised that there
was more there than meets the eye and it twigged.
"It's not an 'm' at all is it," he paused. "It's a '3'."
"Yes, from this angle it's a '3'."
"But what could it mean?"
"It could mean any number of things. Maybe it means it's been
three years since the last murders, maybe he kills three people
at a time. It's really something we may not know until we catch
this guy."

.................................

Scully's Apartment
9.30 am

At Scully's suggestion Doggett had gone back with her to her
apartment for a meal. She had finally persuaded him that there
were enough agents working the case for them to have a short
break.

"Hmmm, that smells good," Doggett was organising the table
arrangements. From the kitchen Scully called,
"It's my specialty, vegetable lasagne. The secret ingredients
are mashed pumpkin and tarragon in the sauce. You'll see, the
taste is even better than the aroma."

After dinner they both sat together, wineglasses in hand, and
again began to talk about the case.

"You spoke on the phone before about the reason why these
victims had consensual sex before they died? What was that
again? Pheromones?"
"Yes, pheromones. They are naturally occurring chemical odours
that send out subconscious signals to the opposite sex which
triggers strong sexual romantic and reproductive urges." Doggett
just raised his eyebrows and Scully continued, "There has been
research into animal pheromones with the possibility of bringing
rare species together to mate but not much has been done with
humans as yet."
"So you're sayin' that these victims were attracted to this man
because of his pheromones?"

"What I am saying is that this man has obviously got hold of
synthetically reproduced chemicals probably reproduced somehow
in lab conditions." Doggett looked sceptical, Scully was used to
this look by now."

"I didn't think you'd believe me so I have proof." Doggett
looked on inquisitively as she went for her bag and produced a
small vial filled with a yellowy fluid.
"Through an associate of mine I happened to get hold of some of
these synthesised pheromones. Experimentation is still early
days but by and large it is harmless. Are you willing to give
this a try John?"

Scully herself wasn't sure what would happen next but was eager
to find out.
Doggett was still too sceptical to realise the implications if
this actually did work and nodded acceptance.
She opened the vial and rubbed a little of the substance on the
back of her hand. Doggett moved over to also get some.

"John, maybe that's not such a good idea. If this really does
work at least one of us should be in control of our actions."
Scully had deliberately used herself as the experiment. If in
fact Doggett did try something with her she wanted to feel it
first hand, not through any chemical manipulation.

"So what do we do now? Do I smell it?"
"No, it's something that wafts through the air. It's meant to be
fairly instantaneous."

Scully watched for any changes in the man opposite her. She
found herself imagining what it would feel like as his hands
felt over her bare skin. What would it be like for him to slowly
undress her? Thank goodness baby William was with Maggie
tonight, she didn't want the possibility of any distractions
here.

Doggett was beginning to feel his temperature rising and an
overwhelming desire to be close to this woman before him. Scully
noticed his dilated pupils and edged up close to him. She lifted
a hand to his neck and felt his pulse almost bursting through
the skin. He placed a hand behind her head and pulled her into
him, mouths locked in a kiss that was deep and passionate. This
was the closest they'd ever been.

"I can't help myself, I'm so sorry Dana. This thing works
alright." He moved his hands down her cardigan and felt her hard
nipples through two layers of clothing. He lingered there
flicking them with his thumb then moved both hands down and
lifted her cardigan off over her head.

"Please don't tell me to stop this because I don't think I
could." He undid her bra.
Scully's heart rate was soaring now as he felt the velvety skin
of her stomach and breasts. She undid his shirt buttons then
placed her small hands over his bare chest feeling every curve,
every muscle.

"I want you John." Even through this sex-crazed haze he couldn't
believe what he was hearing. This is something he'd wanted to
hear ever since he'd first met her. They undressed and just in
their underpants Doggett carefully climbed on top Scully and
began kissing and fondling once more with more passion and heat.

"Make love to me John." They were each bare now and ready for
the final joining. There was no doubt in either of their minds
what they each wanted to do.
Scully had just opened up for the gorgeous, sexy man on top of
her when there was a furious knocking and shouting at the door.

...............................

"Open up Scully! It's urgent!" This sudden noise at the moment
of extreme passion startled them out of their sex-dazed stupor
and Doggett realised what he was just about to do. Oh, how he
wanted this but deep down he was seeing that it wouldn't be
right, not now. Later he would realise that his saviour was
knocking on the door.

The knocking continued.

"Quick John, take your clothes and go into the bedroom."

"Scully, open up! It's Follmer here." Scully quickly put on her
pants and cardigan.
"I'm coming."

Brushing herself down and taking a deep breath she opened the
door to Follmer who almost fell in.

"Assistant Director, what are you doing here?"
"We have some leads. We're pretty sure we know where Monica is."

Just then Doggett came out of the bedroom doing up his zip. Brad
looked from a surprised Doggett to an embarrassed Scully and
couldn't' believe it. What was it about this man that attracted
these females? Must be something in the chemistry he thought and
knew he'd need to chat with this man later over a few beers.

Follmer was just happy that Doggett had found Scully as a lover,
now this left the field open again to go after Monica. His
thoughts went to her possible predicament and this moved him
along.

"Quick, grab your jackets and come with me. We think we know
where she is."

Somewhere in Boston
Sometime in the evening

"Do I know you?" Reyes looked at the woman before her.
"I don't think so honey," she smiled an eerie, sweet smile.

"Who are you and why have you brought me here?" She knew not to
be too forceful with her questions. FBI academy and experience
had taught her that. However she did want some answers. She had
to believe that John, Dana and the others would find her in
time. She knew that John would do everything in his power to
find her. He would leave no stone unturned, he would not sleep
until he found her. Oh how she wanted his strong arms around her
now, to protect her.

"You're somewhere a long way from civilisation and hearin' ears
darlin'." Reyes could remember nothing about getting to where
she was or how long it had taken.

"Why am I here? Why me?" The woman walked around the room with a
confident air and then whipped out a knife just near Reyes'
face. Monica gasped, fear filling her every pore. The woman
proceeded to cut the binding from Reyes' wrists and ankles. She
shook them as if to shake the pain away.

"What's your name?"
"That's not important right now. We'll let you know all in good
time. We need to have a little fun first." Monica was feeling
very uncomfortable about the last statement. Her mind went back
to the case files and she cringed thinking about having sex with
a woman, this woman.

"Why the 'm' carved in the others' chests? Monica decided to
push a little and this seemed to spark something inside this
smug woman.
"M?" she said in a husky voice.
"Yes, what is it about that letter? I know all your victims have
an 'm' in their first names."

"You just don't get it do you." There was that smug expression
again Monica could see that this woman was playing some sort of
game here. She wanted to appear smarter than her investigators
and Monica decided to play along.

"So tell me, what is the significance?'  Just then she heard
something from the next room and it dawned on her that this
woman had talked about 'we'. There was someone else involved
here.

A door opened and in walked a familiar face.

..................................

Boston City Outskirts
10 pm

Police lights and sirens blared as multiple cars sped through
the Boston city outskirts.

"Now John, just calm down, we'll be there in about ten minutes.
You have to be composed and level-headed for this." Scully sat
close, a tender hand on his knee. "The way I feel at the moment
I'm gonna kill him. If he's laid a hand on her I'll..." Doggett
didn't want to think about the fact that his lover could quite
possibly be dead by now. He was hoping that using her wits and
training she would be able to stay alive and intact as long as
possible.

"Now remember what I told you," Follmer spoke from the front
passenger seat. "This man is extremely dangerous. Every
precaution must be taken to not provoke him. He will probably be
armed. All the others have been briefed."

"So how did you find out about this man?" Scully was curious.
Follmer responded,
"His name's Stephen Harris. The one and only lead turned out to
be the man Agent Reyes was talking to at the bar this afternoon.
We spoke to the bartender who happened to know his name and that
he'd frequented the bar on numerous occasions, each time picking
up men or women."

"How do you know it's really him though? Doesn't this semm to
you just a little bit too easy?" Doggett asked.
"We looked up his files on the FBI computer and found out he's
had a long history of mental illness and periods of extreme rage
and violence. Once a week he's meant to report to Boston
Hospital Outpatients for a regular injection but he's missed his
appointment for the last two weeks.
Another thing, according to reports he has a fixation with the
number three. No-one knows why. He just clams up when anyone
mentions the number."

Doggett's thoughts went to the number '3' carved on the victim's
chest this evening, then back to Monica and her possible
predicament. Even though he'd told Follmer he wouldn't lay his
hands on her again Doggett knew now he couldn't and wouldn't
keep his word. If she was still alive she'd probably gone
through enough trauma and she'd need him there by her side. How
could he lay this fact on her as well. <<Sorry Monica but we
can't be lovers any more>> No matter what it took he knew he
loved her and wanted to be with her. Love and happiness were far
more important than a career.

Had he just said that? That he loved her? This was the first
time he'd actually been aware of his true feelings for his
partner. It had taken a tragedy like this for it all to come to
the surface. He wondered if she felt the same way about him.

The convoy of cars came to an abrupt halt outside an old two-
story house. All was dark and quiet except for one glimmer of
light from an upstairs room.

Doggett and Scully got out of their car, guns at the ready,
moving cautiously towards the front door. Other agents silently
moved around to the back and sides of the house.
....................

Somewhere in Boston
10 pm

"Stephen!" Monica was shocked. "So it was you all along? It's
you who have been killing all these innocent people?

"Monica, you make me out to sound like an evil man. I'm not that
bad really. You didn't give me much of a chance to get to know
you today."
"You were coming on a little too strong for my liking. I like a
man not to presume he's going to have sex with me thirty minutes
after we've just met." He chuckled and she knew he had not taken
her comments seriously. "And by the way I told you I was meeting
someone."

"Hmm, so you did. Was he one of the two men watching us over in
the corner of the bar today?" Monica could not hide the flicker
of affirmation in her face.
"Ahh, which one? The blond one or the darker one? They both had
eyes for you Monica, but you'd know that."  He walked up to her
and ran a finger along her cheek. Monica felt revulsion but kept
her face steady not wanting to send this man over the edge.

"You're very observant? Why didn't you tell me any of this?"

"Because it's more fun this way. By the way, which one are you
sleeping with? Or maybe you are having sex with both? I can
imagine it would sooth your ego to be stringing along two
handsome men at once."

"No, I'm not sleeping with both of them."
"So the blond one? Ahh, must be the dark one." Monica really was
not trying to be so transparent but the thought of John now and
how he'd be feeling was distracting her thoughts.
"So is he a good lover?" He began running his fingers through
her hair and feeling the ridges of her ears.

"Does he do this to you?" Monica closed her eyes trying to blot
out the face of the man who was touching her. "What's it like in
bed with him? What does it feel like when he's inside you?" He
leant down and whispered in her ear. "Does he love you? And do
you love him?"
She knew what he was doing. He was trying to make her
vulnerable, to lose her resolve. She had to hang on as long as
she could, enough time for John to work out what was happening
and where she was. Both Brad and John would have sized up this
man in the bar and she was gaining confidence now that she would
be found.

"He'll find me Stephen. You don't know him, how determined he
is."
"Ahh, so you think that'll be so easy? Do you really think that
the path to my door is so well layed out?"
After this statement she began to doubt her previous confidence.
This man was too smart to leave blatant clues.
"Do you really think I would be using my actual name in public?"
....................

Two-Storey House
Boston City Outskirts
10.15 pm

"FBI, open the door!" Gun ready, Doggett was just about to kick
in the front door when a light went on inside.

"Okay, hang on, hold your horses!" A voice called out just as
the door opened. "What's all this then?"

"Are you Stephen Harris?"
"Yes," the man looked perplexed as he looked at his two visitors
and saw their weapons.

Doggett brushed past the man and into the house, "Can we come
in?"

"Looks as though you're already in. Look, tell me what's
happening here!"

By this stage there was a swarm of FBI men searching the house.
Scully spoke,
"Do you have someone here by the name of Monica Reyes?"
"Who? Reyes? Never heard the name!" This man looked genuine.

Follmer approached Doggett,
Looks as though he's telling the truth Agent Doggett. This man's
clean."

Just then Doggett's cell phone rang.

"John Doggett."
"John, Skinner here."
"Yes sir?"
"I have to tell you, you're at the wrong house."
"We've just found that out sir." He looked across to Scully then
to Follmer.

"Have you anything for us sir because we are clueless here."
Doggett's anxiety was starting to show in his voice.

"Look John, this is a long shot here but I keyed all the
information you gave me into the computer including the '3'
marking and the pheromones and I came up with a name."

"Yes, what name?" The others in the room hung on every word.

"I don't know if you'll like this. Doctor Sarah Wilson."
"But that's a woman sir." The surprise in the room could almost
be felt.
"Yes, she's been doing work on pheromones at a lab in a chemical
plant out on the highway. She has a brother. We haven't come up
with a name as yet but we're working on it. As I said, it's a
long shot but it's all we have."

"Okay sir, we're on it." Doggett took note of the location.

"C'mon, let's go!"
............................

Somewhere in Boston

"So would you make love to me like you make love to him?"
"You're presuming a lot Stephen. I hardly know you and you think
I'm going to have sex with you just like that?" It was time to
try and change the subject, she didn't like where this was
headed.

She looked across from his smiling face to the woman's and
something clicked.

"So this is your sister, Stephen?" He chuckled and walked up to
her and placed an arm across her shoulders.
"I'd like you to meet my sister Sarah."
Sarah looked into her brother's face,
"Shane love, I think it's time now."
Monica felt a surge of panic at these words.

"Yes, I believe it is."
"What's happening? Time for what?"
Sarah went over to a nearby cupboard and produced a clear
plastic jar.
"It's time for our next experiment. This is my new, improved
formula."
She handed the jar to Shane who undid the lid. He rubbed some of
the substance on the back of his hands and moved towards Reyes.
As he did this Sarah left the room.

"What is that? What did you just put on your hands?"  He just
smiled and said,
"Monica, now you will make love to me just like you make love to
your lover."
"What do you mean? I won't have sex with you if that's what
you're talking about."

Monica felt a strange sensation in the pit of her stomach.  He
reached out for her hand and led her to what seemed to be the
bedroom. She couldn't believe she wasn't resisting. An
overwhelming need for sex overtook her body. What was happening
to her?

Shane lay her down on the bed and leant over her. She wanted
him. She wanted to have wild sex now! He kissed her and she
obliged by opening her mouth to his.

"Shane, I can't help what I'm doing, what have you done to me?"
They began removing each other's clothes all the time kissing
madly and moving fevered hands over anywhere they would reach.
The impropriety of this act was only a fleck deep down in
Monica's mind as they undressed.

Both bare Shane moved a hand down to between her legs and teased
her thighs apart. He felt her hard, wet clit then plunged
fingers inside her pumping them in and out. She bucked up in
response.

Caught up in sexual euphoria they hadn't heard the commotion
going on outside.

Just as the couple was about to cement their union there was a
loud noise as the bedroom door was bashed in.
...................

Monica had never seen Doggett so angry before.

"You fucking bastard!" he yelled from across the room, gun
pointed. Scully had her gun aimed too as Doggett crossed the
floor at lightning speed and pulled the naked man off his woman.
With adrenaline enhanced strength he flung the surprised man
heavily against the wall and pointed the gun at his temple.

"What did you do to her, you poor excuse for shit! Did you fuck
her? Well DID YOU FUCK HER?"
Shane just grinned which made Doggett even madder.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't pull this trigger now
and send your sorry ass to hell!" Doggett's face was red and
enraged.

"Agent Doggett, don't do it." Scully was a little calmer. "He's
not worth it."

Doggett still had the man pinned against the wall.
"Why do this? Why all this killin', you fucking asshole?"
Doggett's finger was precariously poised on the trigger.

"John!"
It was only when he heard Monica's voice did he snap out of his
irrational rage.

"Scully, he's yours!" With icy blue eyes he stared intensely as
Scully handcuffed the serial killer.

"John!" Doggett ran over to the still naked Monica, took her
into his arms, and hugged her tightly.
"Oh Monica. I thought I'd lost you." She thought he was going to
burst out sobbing so she looked into his eyes and leant in for a
long, drawn out kiss not thinking about its implications.
This did not bypass Scully's eyes.

After a long moment Doggett took off his jacket and wrapped it
around Reyes's naked body then went to collect her strewn
clothing from the floor.

That kiss hadn't bypassed Follmer's eyes either as he stood at
the door not knowing what to think.
...........................

Boston Memorial Hospital
7.30 am the next morning.

"I can't believe how long they're keeping you here." Doggett
held Monica's hand and looked at her with one of those puppydog
expressions that made her melt.
"They had to do a few tests."
"You're not pregnant are you?" Monica just laughed and said,
"Do you want me to be?" Doggett looked a little dazed. "No John,
I'm not pregnant."

"The doctor said you can go home anytime today. She said that
your system is clear of the chemicals and there is no further
danger to your life." He sat down on the hospital bed next to
her.

"Looks like Dr Sarah got the formula right this time."
"You can thank her for that or you'd most likely be dead right
now. Too much of that stuff and it could have killed you,
leaving no trace of the substance in your system."
"So we now know how the other victims died." Monica paused.
"One thing I do need to know. Why didn't the pheromones kill
Shane or Sarah?"
"Apparently there are two formulae, one for men and one for
women."
"Ah, now I know why Sarah left the room when Shane rubbed the
chemicals on his hands."
"Yes, that'd be right."

"So what did it all mean? What about the 'm' carved on the
victims' chests?"

The answer was postponed as Skinner, Scully and Follmer knocked
and walked into the hospital room.

"Agent Reyes," Scully was the first to talk. "How are you
feeling?" Doggett let go of Reyes' hand.

"I'm good," she smiled. "I'm just glad that you and Agent
Doggett arrived when you did before the dirty deed had been
done, so to speak." Doggett tried to hide his utter relief at
that last statement. He also thought back to what could have
transpired between he and Scully and secretly thanked Follmer
for appearing when he did. He didn't want that small
complication in his life right now.

"So, no grogginess, nausea, headache?" Scully felt Reyes'
forehead at the same time she felt the heat from the man on the
bed beside her. She really didn't want him to get away so
easily.
"No Dana, I'm fine, really. What I want to know are more details
about this case. How has it all wrapped up?"
Skinner decided to start.

"Well it turned out that Stephen Harris is actually Shane Wilson
the brother of Doctor Sarah Wilson. He took an alias to cover
his tracks and the real Mr Harris has had to bear the brunt."
Then Follmer decided to continue,
"Monica, when we left you to be brought here by the paramedics
we took Shane and Sarah Wilson back to be questioned. They were
reluctant at first to answer any of our questions but we found
out something quite remarkable that none of us had thought of."
He went over and pulled up a chair and Scully and Skinner did
the same.

Doggett looked to Monica who seemed as curious as he to hear
this revelation. Without qualms this time he took her hand. This
could easily have been construed as an act of friendly comfort
rather than more. Still looking at the others she squeezed his
hand lightly showing her thanks.

"The 'm' on the chest - yes it was an 'm' and a '3'. Seems that
Shane and Sarah are two members of triplets, thus the '3'. They
had a traumatic upbringing where for the first year of their
lives they were neglected by their birth parents. When Child
Services caught up with this the damage had been done. If that
wasn't bad enough the triplets were then fostered out and later
adopted by three different families when all they wanted was be
together. They hadn't seen each other in 30 years until Sarah
happened to find Shane through exhaustive research. He came to
Boston and has been living with his sister for just over the
past three years."
Follmer took a break and Skinner continued,

"It was only after we promised to do our best to find the other
triplet that they gave us all the information."
"And the 'm'?" Monica was still not sure.
"The name of the other twin. They know the first name has an 'm'
in it but they were just too young to remember her name or even
whether it was a boy or a girl. They knew it had three syllables
so it could be a Monica." When Monica looked a little worried he
added, "..or a Melissa, or an Abraham..."

Then Follmer took over,
"They're a couple of sick individuals but with proper medication
and guidance they could lead fairly normal lives and we will
keep our word and find the other triplet. We have a team on it
now."

Doggett decided there was still a question pending,
"What about this pheromone thing?" He looked across to Scully.
"John, Dr Sarah has promised to hand over all her research and
notes to the proper authorities. Apparently she has been fairly
accurate with her experiments and has actually almost perfected
the mix of chemicals. She's agreed that all money made from
selling this knowledge goes to Child Services hoping they can
keep families together rather than split them apart. Of course
today this is the norm."

This had certainly been a fascinating case but all were relieved
that it was over and had been solved, not all X-Files
necessarily ended up this way. They all agreed to get together
that evening for a debriefing over a few drinks. Reyes was quick
to jump in,

"Not McDonnell's Bar! I don't think I can set foot in there
again."
They all laughed and agreed.

Epilogue

Falls Creek, Virginia
Doggett's Bedroom
11.30 pm that night.

"How did you talk your way out of that one Monica?" John was
brushing his teeth at his bathroom mirror while Monica was
washing her face.
"I really thought we'd been caught out, Follmer and Scully
interrogatin' us like that."

"We were just so relieved to see each other at the chemical
factory that it was just a reflex action."
"Do you really think they bought that Monica?
"I'm pretty sure I kept a straight face." She had one of her wry
smiles and added, "I think it'll all be forgotten soon enough as
long as we're careful."

"Yes, you have to admit, that kiss was pretty amazing." Doggett
grinned remembering back.

Monica was wearing one of John's T-shirts. Did she actually have
any sleepwear of her own? John had on his sleep pants. They were
both ready for bed.

"You know what John? My place has been quite neglected lately."
"Maybe we can stay there tomorrow night?" Doggett raised his
eyebrows.

"We don't have to sleep together every night." Reyes smiled and
lightly shook her head.

He swept her up in his arms and sat on the bathroom sink, her on
his lap.
"Monica, I *want* to sleep with you every night. I love your
body next to mine in bed." He placed his hands on her butt and
lifted her further onto his lap.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and began slowly kissing
his soft lips. They tasted minty and good.

"Yum, you taste great." He laughed as she drew her tongue across
his lips then sucked. She could feel his lips get wider in a
smile.

"And you feel good," he felt over the velvet skin of her ass
cheeks under the T-shirt pulling her in closer.

"John Doggett, I do believe you want to have your way with me
again."
"Monica Reyes, and how do you know that?" he teased.
"Well you're just about to burst out of your pajama pants." He
smiled and lifted her up.

"Oh," he frowned.
"What's wrong?"
"I think the sink was wet." Monica made a toothy grin into his
face.
"Then you'll just have to take those wet pants off." Doggett
then sported an evil grin, let her down briefly and turned on
the faucet.
"No John!' Monica knew what he was thinking and began walking
backwards into the bedroom with her hands up.

"Monica," he said in a beckoning voice.
"No!" she laughed as she tried to get away. With dripping wet
facecloth in hand he chased her around the room finally
cornering her on the bed. She was hot with the anticipation of
the feel of what he'd do with that cloth on her body. He lifted
the T-shirt up to her shoulders and ran the wet cloth across her
breasts and over her stomach. Her chest heaved with
breathlessness and arousal.

"Are you sorry now, you little minx?" He tantalised her inner
thighs before spreading her legs further and rubbed the course,
damp material between her legs and her ass cheeks.

"Oh John, never sorry," she groaned. With the other hand he
helped her lift the T-shirt over her head and she helped him off
with his wet pants. They rolled naked on the bed, breathing and
heaving, discarding the washcloth and ending up on their sides,
kissing and fondling.  Monica lifted her leg over his hip and
worked herself so he could manoeuvre his waiting cock inside
her. This different position was a welcome change. As soon as he
pushed himself inside her she felt an overwhelming love for this
man. He did this for her too, not just for his own enjoyment.
She had been with men in the past that were so egocentric. She'd
never met someone like John who wanted so much mutual enjoyment
of sex.

Monica wanted to let John know she loved him. During her ordeal
she wasn't sure of her feelings. Now she was sure but she wasn't
positive of his. This did not deter her.
As he whispered wonderful words in her ear and made
extraordinary love to her she said,

"John, I love you." He had heard her, she just knew by his arms
wrapping more tightly around her and she felt him thrust in her
more forcefully.
"Oh Monica," he breathed out and let out his love inside her. "I
love you so much."
Monica felt the hot gush inside her and responded, her mind and
body in sexual ecstasy. She pulsated around him replying
overwhelmingly to his words of mutual love.

No more words needed to be exchanged that night. The rest was by
bodily gestures.

They lay in conjoined comfort sleeping peacefully. In the future
could they continue with their love and concern of each other
and yet survive the trials and dangers of these X-Files cases?
As they slept contentedly together in the warm sheets little did
they know that their next case would hold grave dangers for both
of them and may even be their last.
