Company History
Part 7

After Stephen finished in NUI Maynooth and got his MA, he was offered part time tutoring jobs in both Maynooth and St. Pat's. This proved very handy, as it meant he was working side by side with Martin, and seeing him on a weekly basis. It was thus, in late March 2003 that Martin, Andy and Stephen met to discuss once again making
Cassandra, and this time they were for real. With Stephen and Martin in continual contact and with Andy also teaching in another college, they all had plenty of oppourtunity and free time, and on April 16, CherryPie Productions had its first offical meeting since shooting The Verisimilitude of all Literary Endeavours in January of 2001.

A new script was produced by April 23 and together they recast the film (retaining the services of original cast members Neil, Una and Andy, and also calling on Ann Marie Byrne, who had been in both
Oedipus: A Context and Admonition). A tenative shooting date of late July was set and the script was fine tuned and changed about as cast and crew came together for a full rehearsal on Tuesday May 6, in the place were it all began, St. Pat's, and organised by the same people who began it four years previously, Martin and Stephen, now with Andy by their side. CherryPie Productions has come full circle.

Here and Now

And so we have it - the history of CherryPie Productions. A turbulent one no doubt, but also one which holds many, many good memories for those who participated in it (except the bastards from DLIADT, scum all (except Mark Barry)). For some, the history does not have a happy ending but, for others, it is ongoing and, if history really is history, it never ends, some people, like Debbie and Ailish, just drift out of it and seem to cease to exist, while others, like Martin and Andy, drift in and assume prominence. At the moment, CherryPie Productions is as strong as it has ever been, and is about to embark on its most ambitious project to date. Where it will lead remains to be seen, but if the CherryPie people have learned one thing, it is how to survive in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. And even if that survival ends tomorrow, it doesn't really matter, because the company will go on in one way, shape or form. Besides, it's been one hell of a ride.

For all of us.
