The Prisoner of Zenda is not generally one of the movies that springs to mind when film quotes are mentioned, which is a shame, because many of the lines from that movie are incredible. Whether they are comic or dramatic, the actors showed an awful lot of potential with these lines, and since I've seen other work of many of them, I can tell. But let's not forget to credit the screenwriter as well!
Sapt - Shave him and he'd be the King!
Rudolf - Oh, Michael, why waste good wine?
Rassendyll - I don't care much for your jokes Your Majesty!
Sapt - You think it's a joke, eh?
Rupert - Why should we go to the cathedral when the king isn't even going to be there to be crowned?
Michael - Do you want to make it obvious we knew he wouldn't be coming? We must be there.
Rupert - Someone once called fidelity a fading woman's greatest defense and a charming woman's greatest hypocracy. And you're very charming. And Michael is very busy and likely to be more so.
Antoinette - I thought I heard His Majesty order you to your place in the cathedral.
Rupert - So now you're trying to put me in my place. You know, I like arrogance in a woman-at first....But you don't need a defense against me. I'm on your side. I think Michael's treating you wretchedly!
Michael - The day, the hour, and almost the moment.
Rupert - History is born out of a bottle of wine.
Rassendyll - This is private?
Flavia - Oh, Rudolf, be careful-he hates you.
Rassendyll - Believe me, I return the compliment.
Fritz - By the way, what were you doing in there with the princess? Can't you leave the King to do his own lovemaking?
