The impossibly gorgeous Ronald Colman (1891-1958) was the star of The Prisoner of Zenda, as he had the dual role of Rudolf V and Rudolf Rassendyll. The son of a silk importer in England, Colman began his film career in 1918, reached superstardom in the 1920's, and continued to be a popular leading man until his last movie, The Story of Mankind, in 1957. He was voted to be Hollywood's most handsome actor at one point, and while the above photo does him little justice, his films and most other photos show him to be one of the world's most handsome men. What a hunk. But anyway, he was known for his historical roles (Kismet in 1944, A Tale of Two Cities in 1935). He was cast opposite such leading ladies as Lillian Gish, Myrna Loy, Madeleine Carroll, Marlene Dietrich, Greer Garson, Ida Lupino, and of course, Vilma Banky.
