Knockin' on Heaven's Door

A film by Thomas Jahn (Germany, 1996),

with Til Schweiger, Jan-Josef Liefers, Thierry van Werveke and Rutger Hauer.

Martin and Rudi share the same room at hospital. As they realize they're both doomed with incurable diseases, they decide to get their own way and enjoy to the full the few last days left they have to live...

Thomas Jahn's film is funny, fast-paced and sharp. Between Pulp Fiction and True Romance, there's no doubt Knockin' on Heaven's Door takes a lot from Tarantino's movies, even referring to them as a mere parody. But what the heck! It works! Jahn's performance rests indeed upon the choice of a most likeable cast and to remarkable caustic dialogues that judiciously prevail over the (melo)dramatic plot. For leisure/entertainement purpose, Knockin' on Heaven's Door definitely hits the target!
