"The Best" is difficult to choose between this one, GF I, & Scarface. But with the voice overs nararrating the scenes, great acting by ALL the characters, and a fantastic ending make this my favorite of all. An underrated classic.

Playing the quiet, intelligent, calculating role, unlike the loud, flamboyant characters that a lot of recent films have presented.� This film is not only an American classic, but showed the world who 'Al Pacino' was.

The Cuban accent, language, and temper are unbeleivable!� The story isn't strong, but the action is intense.� Speaking the Cuban dialogue even off the set during personal time gave the character realism.

One of the things that make this such a good movie is the fact that Col. Slade is not a cop or gangster, and the story is so good. � Throughout the 80's and 90's, non-cop/gangster Pacino movies didn't have strong plots.� Studying blind people in a hospital led to such a realistic portrayal, as well as the Oscar for Best Actor.

WOW! What a movie! Pacino has great command of this role. Throughout this film (165 minutes), his character calls for many different temperaments. From an intelligently calm composure, to a firery and non-authoritative attitude, Lowell Bergman remains unruffled and focused. This was one of the best films of 1999.

Opinions of this film are similar to Scarface.� The subject content (satan) is a delicate matter, and seems to turn some people off.� Regardless of what you think, one thing is for sure: the character is terrific in a purely evil role, something we haven't seen since 1983.

I coudn't bevleive it. An old, sloppy, and slouched low life.� Then, shortly after, I watched him come running onto the stage at the Oscars. He looked young, vigorous and handsome - not one bit like Lefty Ruggerio. I just sat there in disbelief.

At first, the plot seemed weak, but it turned out to be a very entertaining film. Comes off as a satiristic comedy, Pacino puts forth a great performance, with a character thats a nice "change of pace" to his usual cop or gangster. Shows his passion and emotions without over doing the yelling, like he
has been known to do.

A 3 hour cops and robbers saga. Pacino "yells" too much in this.� A good, but not great flic. � The long awaited Pacino-DeNiro movie was a mild let down.

Watching this movie, you believe that Sonny is a real idiot most of the time. That's how convincing Pacino is. The charachter calls for an "unpolished" performance; not as forceful, or even
confident as the Godfathers. He makes you believe that Sonny has no clue as to what he got himself into.� NOTE:
compare this performance to the Godfather Part II (made 1 year before) and you can see what a "transformation" Al made. From the boss to a stooge.

Al's return to the screen after a 4 year abscence is terrific.� Great acting in this thriller. Al & John Goodman make a great and, at times, hilarious team.

The GF series concludes with this picture. Al is very good, but now in the twilight of his character's life, seems a bit more dull and less forceful than in the other 2 films.

Great interpretation of a drug addict. You can tell that he lacks the skill and presence seen in many of his films. But that's to be expected in such an early movie.

This movie is very comparable to Author!Author! in that it's kind of stupid. And again, Al presents to us a unique and interresting performance that is a lot better than the flick. The ending, with him sitting on the steps looking confused, is a classic picture.

I did not like this movie, but the "speech" scene is a classic, even if a bit overdone. The work done as the character is very good (attitude, terminology, style), but the rest of the plot, movie, and actors stink!

Very good acting. But the part was very narrow; he did what a dieing grandfather is supposed to do, sit around doing nothing. Fantastic accent and elderly tone.

Lacks alot of the passion and emotion built into other performances. However, that is what the role called for. Perhaps, the screenwriter and director should have done a better job to "beef up" such a boring film.
