We all know we should never judge a book by its cover, but its inevitable that we do regardless. I too am guilty of this, when a single of a band I'd never heard of, with a name like Stag fell onto the doormat, I'll admit I was hardly dying to hear it, and it sat unlistened to for quite some time.
As I've misplaced the press release which accompanied this single I can't tell you anything about this band, though I can assure you that despite the dire name there's nothing to be scared of. Stag are not going to change your life, but track three, "Waiting For Nothing To Happen" is enough to merit this single worth a listen. The problem with this single seems to be that Stag are trying to cover all bases, they could do with choosing a direction and sticking with it, and we suggest that rather than chasing their mid-60's solo fuelled dreams they continue along the lines of the far from boring, in fact promising, acoustic fare of the closing track. If they do, we'll look forward to hearing more from Stag in the future.
