Dim Mak have made to possible to hear two more David Viner songs on their website. Click on the song titles to hear Trouble in Mind and Corrina, Corrina. EWO hasn't stopped playing Beer Belly since it was put up, and these new tracks don't disappoint. Corrina, Corrina is a particular favourite. Absolutley brilliant. The album, 'Mr David Viner', is released on June 17th.
You know something is wrong in the world when Iggy Pop is bringing Sum 41 into the studio. They've recorded a song called 'Little Know It All' for release on Iggy Pop's forthcoming album, 'Skull Ring' due out in Autumn. Sick and wrong if you ask us, see Rolling Stone for more details, link from www.themodernage.org.
| Tickets are now avalible for two more Black Keys shows at the 100 Club on Oxford Street, London on July 9th and Manchesters Night & Day on the 10th. | Kain are back with their now weekly assult at Hit! at The Vale. The weekly launch is this Friday (23rd) with support coming from Panda, though rumour has it a certain London band will be appearing. We said rumour. Hit! kicks off at 8pm till midnight every friday night, just 3 entry. |
Rumours were flying around that The White Stripes were promoting mobile phones! Surely not. We thought the world had gone crazy again. False alarm. No need for panic, unless your one of the corporate fat cats trying to 'pimp' The Stripes. Jack sets things straight. The White Stripes have also confirmed they will appear at Witnness Festival on July 13th.
Thanks to Herriot Watt being in the middle of nowhere and scottish transport being rubbish EWO missed The Vaults set tonight. The two tracks we heard in sound check were ace, including the wonderful forthcoming single 'She Loves' (recorded at Toe Rag nonetheless). Learn from our mistake, go and see them. They're playing the main stage at Middlesbrough Music Live on Monday, and continue playing with Elviss on the NSMA tour in Loughborough on the 29th.
The release of Alfie's new single, 'People', has been put back to June 9th. It's set to be released on CD and 12", which will be limited to a run of 300 copies. B-sides will be former Peel Session favourite Masquerade and new track Baddie. Alfie have been confirmed for this years T in the Park. Their UK tour starts tonight in Liverpool.
Bad news I'm afraid, before the tour had even been properly publicised The Dirtbombs have had to cancel it due to 'money problems'. Ben Blackwell says they'll be back over 'in the fall, maybe even some August festivals'. The Mooney Suzuki release a 7" of Love covers, featuring 'Hey Joe' and 'Seven & Seven Is' on Ben's new lable Cass Records.
Peter Doherty invites one and all to a secret Libertines gig, the first in, ooh about a month and a half! If you don't mind crawling through a window and paying an undisclosed sum then get yourself along to the latest in a long line of Albion Rooms, this formerly 'The Wolfden', at 1a Gunter Grove, SW10. Click here for more details, on this gig so secret the rest of the band are yet to find out about.
In other Libertines news. Those downloading the Babyshambles Sessions please DO NOT download it from www.babyshambles.org as its about to reach it's data transfer limit, or something. Download the tracks from www.thelibertines.tk or www.babyshambles.de.
More bad news from Detroit. The Sights have had to cancel their tour with The Greenhornes. They can't find anyone to pay for their flights. EWO is thinking of investing in a lottery ticket every week from now on, maybe we could fund Detroit? They plan to come over to UK (and mainland Europe) around Festival time... perhaps they're hinting at Reading/Leeds? Apparently new material is being rehearsed, 'think Terry Reid'! Lovely. New 7" single, 'Be Like Normal' out July 14th.
Review up of The Agenda! at Glasgow Barfly. Blistering performance against all odds (you'll see). Don't miss them, there are still a few dates on their tour left, they'll be storming through a venue (or should that be Barfly?) near you on the following dates; May 28th Liverpool Barfly, 30th Cardiff Barfly, 31st Coventry Colloseum, June 1st Cambridge Portland Arms, 2nd Northampton Soundhaus, 3rd London Garage (with Randy).
More slightly bizarre news from the wonderful world of Detroit (thanks to Peter for the link). Two Soledad Brothers tracks, 'Break 'Em On Down' (not 'Bring 'Em On Down'!) and 'I-75 Boogie', feature on the sound track to Wakeboarding Unleashed, a new video game coming out on XBox and Playstation 2 on June 13th. Other Detroit luminaries featured include The Stooges, with 'I Wanna Be Your Dog', The Gories' 'Nitroglycerine' and The Greenhornes with'It Returns'. The Pattern and The Flaming Lips also appear on the soundtrack. Click for more details.
There probably aren't going to be any more updates for a few days. EWO is either off on a jaunt round Britain seeing Alfie in London, Manchester and Brighton, or studying hard for exams. Things should be back on track on Monday, when we'll be interviewing the wonderful I Am Kloot, and hopefully not hearing about anymore Detrioters cancelling tours! In the meantime, keep checking back for more details of the first EWO event, which will see Mr. David Viner return to Glasgow!
