Jeff and I went to New York City in August of 2007.
We got to New York pretty late on Thursday night and I really thought our taxi from the airport was going to be quick and easy but we had to wait in line for a half hour just to get a taxi. Then there was construction and we got caught at every light and we finally got to our hotel shortly after midnight. I wanted to go the Empire State Building right away because it was a nice night and on my previous trip I hadn't been able to go because of the weather. We got the directions out and decided we would walk since the streets were still crowded with people. We got to the top right away once we got there and it was beautiful to see all the lights. I don't really know where things are to point them out to Jeff but I'm pretty sure we could make out the outline of the Statue of Liberty, it was pretty cool. Jeff even got over his nerves after being up there for awhile. We had ended up on a few less than crowded streets on the way over so we decided to take a cab back and it was about $10 for a 1-mile ride, crazy!

On Friday we decided to take a tour of Madison Square Gardens; we got to see the arena and we got to see the Rangers locker room. They are in their off-season so the room is used mostly for storage.

After the tour we walked back to our hotel (in Times Square) and stopped at Toys R' Us (took a ride on a ferris wheel with Scooby), the M&M store, and Rockefeller Center.

The main reason for going to New York was to see Yankee Stadium before it was torn down. We got quite familiar with the subway system while we were there so it easy enough to get out to the stadium but once we got there it started pouring. The game got delayed but we stayed and sat on wet bleachers, it was fun!

On Saturday we headed out to the Statue of Liberty. It was a really nice day out and we got stuck in long lines but that's what we expected. We also headed to Ellis Island to do some research on ancestors but we needed first and last names and we didn't have that information.

After the ferry ride we visited Ground Zero (under construction) and then headed up to Central Park where I made Jeff walk through the whole thing and my punishment was 1 minute of tickling for every step he had to take - I think I'll be getting tickled forever! Anyway, we climbed this huge rock formation in the middle and watched several people do tricks for money. Finally we made it to the other side of the park and headed up to 5th Avenue to window shop. Jeff said his feet were mad at me and while we were giving them a rest he started fighting with this pigeon, a pigeon!

On Sunday we went to Greenwich Village where Jeff taught me how to eat pizza New York style and then we headed down to South Street Seaport (shopping mall on the water).

After this we still had some time to kill so we went to ESPN zone and had a drink before we had to get back to the airport and head home.
