The Town Board of Holland met Monday February 6, for their monthly
meeting at 8 p.m. Chairman Jerry Wall called the meeting to order at
8 PM;
Minutes of the January Meeting were read; motion to approve the minutes
was made by Supervisor Geigerr, seconded by Supervisor
Brick. Motion passed 3-0.
Brown Countty Planner Mike Parmentier presented some options that could
be followed in order to maximize the grant from American Transmission
Co. for parks and environmental enhancement. He stated that the town
could apply to the DNR for projects where matching funds would be
available if they met the required criteria. Mr. Parmentier left
information for the board to review and would be available for
questions if needed.
Hollandtown Volunteer Firefighter Dave Weigert Jr. had questions on how
the HVFD funds were accounted for. Should he have access to the
HVFD check books? Atty Jim Sickle explained the by-laws, audit
procedure and that an audit be furnished to the township. He
further stated that the treasurer must sign all checks and keep track
of all income. It was stated that the Dept. was out of compliance with
the Article of Incorporation. Mr. Sickle advised that the HVFD to
pay the money and re- register.
Mary Lou Robinson spoke and said the treasurer doesnt have all
the authority needed to preform his duties and she was concerned about
the morale of the Department, and that there isnt full
knowledge of the finances.
Mr. Van Hook asked if the town could ask for an audit of the
HVFD. At that point, Chairman Wall made the motion to have Atty.
Sickle draft a letter to the HVFD and request that they comply. Motion
was seconded by Supv. Brick, motion passed 3-0.
Atty Sickle explained the process of the town's endeavor to form
a municipal court. He stated that he and Atty. Gagan
would work with the other towns and set the procedure in motion.
They would look to find the most efficient and cost effective way for
sharing the cost , judge and recording.
In a separate matter, Atty Sickle stated that the town should not be
involved in any action to stop a neighbor from using a wood burning
furnace.
Chairman Wall stated that he received requests from
Mr. Giese to open the remaining portion of Farrell Rd. for farm
equipment use, would the town board look into it?
The bills were presented and examined; a motion to pay was made by
Supervisor Brick and seconded by Supervisor Geiger. Motion passed.
Mr. Sickle reviewed the Worker Compensation letter. He feels that
if town officers use their own vehicles while they are on official town
business, the town should insure them.

tentative approval if all conditions given by the town and county were
met. Motion to approve by Supervisor Geiger, seconded by Supervisor
Brick.
