Hollandtown Town Board Meeting Minutes

The Town Board of Holland met Monday February 6, for their monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Chairman Jerry Wall called the meeting to order at 8  PM; Minutes of the January Meeting were read; motion to approve the minutes was made by Supervisor Geigerr, seconded by  Supervisor Brick.  Motion passed 3-0.

Brown Countty Planner Mike Parmentier presented some options that could be followed in order to maximize the grant from American Transmission Co. for parks and environmental enhancement. He stated that the town could apply to the DNR for projects where matching funds would be available if they met the required criteria. Mr. Parmentier left information for the board to review and would be available for questions if needed.

Hollandtown Volunteer Firefighter Dave Weigert Jr. had questions on how the HVFD funds were accounted for. Should he have access to the  HVFD check books?  Atty Jim Sickle explained the by-laws, audit procedure and that an audit be furnished to the township.  He further stated that the treasurer must sign all checks and keep track of all income. It was stated that the Dept. was out of compliance with the Article of Incorporation. Mr. Sickle advised that the HVFD  to pay the money and re- register.

Mary Lou Robinson spoke and said the treasurer doesnt have  all the authority needed to preform his duties and she was concerned about the morale of the  Department, and that there isnt full  knowledge of the finances.

Mr. Van  Hook asked if the town could ask for an audit of the HVFD. At that point, Chairman Wall made the motion to  have Atty. Sickle draft a letter to the HVFD and request that they comply. Motion was seconded by Supv. Brick, motion passed 3-0.

Atty Sickle  explained the process of the town's endeavor to form a municipal court. He stated that   he and  Atty. Gagan would work with the other towns and set the procedure in motion.  They would look to find the most efficient and cost effective way for sharing the cost ,  judge and recording.

In a separate matter, Atty Sickle stated that the town should not be involved in any action to stop a neighbor from using a wood burning furnace.

Chairman  Wall  stated that he received requests from  Mr. Giese to open the remaining portion of Farrell Rd. for farm equipment use, would the town board look into it?

The bills were presented and examined; a motion to pay was made by Supervisor Brick and seconded by Supervisor Geiger. Motion passed.

Mr. Sickle reviewed the Worker Compensation letter.  He feels that if town officers use their own vehicles while they are on official town business, the town should insure them.

In another matter the CFM submitted by Mr. Schuessler was given tentative approval if all conditions given by the town and county were met. Motion to approve by Supervisor Geiger, seconded by Supervisor Brick.

Chairman Wall made motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Supervisor Geiger. Meeting was adjourned.
