Home for the Summer
This summer we came back for a three week visit to the states.  We jammed pack the visit trying to see as many people as we could.  Unfortunately, we still were not able to see everyone we wanted to.  (Sorry if you are one of the folks we didn't get to see -- we really wanted to and we really miss you!)

We had a great visit with my parents amid their packing boxes.  It was sad to see them pack up their lovely house in Rockport, but it was so typical for my parents too !

We were able to get to our friends Janie and Bill's wedding in Maine while we were home.  It was so much fun to be able to visit with Sam and Bea (Janie's two girls), the newlyweds, and also Eric and his wife Sarah.  I think it was awkward at first for the girls -- they had not seen each other in a few years, but it didn't take long for everything to feel the same again.

My third *daughter* -- Katie D. was able to hang with us for lots of days and nights and the girls had mutliple sleepovers with friends from home.

I really enjoyed being able to have corn on the cob, steamers, lobster and good steak again!  Not to mention being able to visit my favorite restaurants while we were home.

The ocean was beautiful and Good Harbour beach is still the favorite beach for the family.  Thanks to everyone that let us use their homes and made us great dinners!

We flew Air France via Paris for this trip.  The girls loved it, each seat had its own little TV.

Once back in Holland, I immediately got sick again with the same virus I had last year.  Fortunately, it only lasted for about 10 days or so.  Soon after Peter and Kate came down with the fever/cough virus too and were both sick for about 3 to 4 weeks.  So far Anna has avoided the dreaded virus!  Welcome back to the Netherlands!

On a lighter note, school is going really well for the girls so far.  Both are right back into the things.  Kate had a great BD sleepover party with a bunch of girls -- easiest sleepover yet.  Kate planned everything, I just had to provide food.

I am really enjoying being back and feeling much more at ease this year than last.  I think knowing more of the language is a definite plus.  We are plagued with house troubles this fall (leaky skilight, kitchen floor lifting more, arbour falling down) -- but I still love this house.

That's it for now.
