Summer 2004
This summer we had two sets of guests in Holland: our niece Jess with two of her friends, and my third "daughter" - Katie Donohue from Beverly MA.  It was great to have visitors and to be able to show a little of the Netherlands to them.

Jess and her friends Holly and Brook stayed with us for three days, using the time to explore Holland on their own and one day with us.  They stopped by at the start of a European holiday and left us to further explore France and Switzerland.

Katie came to stay with us for 2 1/2 weeks, flying over from the states on her own.  She flew back with us when we left for the states at the end of July to visit family and friends in America.  While Katie was here, the girls and I spent three days in London giving Katie the chance to experience two European countries.

Trooping around London with the three girls was interesting.  We flew, took trains, took the metro, and walked, walked, walked.  I had tried to stress to pack "lightly" for London knowing we would be lugging all of our own stuff.

While in London, we took in the musical "Anything Goes" for halfprice.  We had second row center seats -- really a great show.  We visited the Globe Theatre, the London Dungeon, the London Eye, a double decker bus ride, the aquarium and a nearby museum.

We tried to give Katie a taste of living in Holland, so we took her to the movies, shopping, to Amsterdam, to a few animal parks and generally around our little village.  The girls spent each night camping out in a different room of the house or in the backyard in a tent.  It was a great visit and flew by quickly.

Once in America this year, we had a chance to some family and friends.  It was great to see everybody, eat good ole American food, and shop.  I appreciate everyone who made time to see us while we were home and regret not seeing everyone we wanted to.  We miss you all and love you!
