Cycling - The Vendee 'Coastal Cycleway' allows you to cylce from one end of the Vendee to the other.
Boating - Boat hire is available in the Marais Poitevin, only a short distance from La Roerthe.
Golf - There are 5 eighteen-hole golf courses.
Fishing - Lakes and rivers yield trench, bream, roach, carp pike and zander. Holiday fishing permits are available for fifteen days for about �16, and the River Lay flows by the village. (Permits available from "Pacheur Desdeux Lays", a fishing shop which is situated on the main road as you exit Chantonnay to the north.)
Go-Karting - There are several Go-Karting venues in the coastal resorts and locally in Fontenay Le Comte.
Riding - Local riding stables and riding schools are in abundance and equipment hire is provided at most venues.
Walking - Most towns, villages, forests, etc have comprehensively marked 'walkways' with maps available from all tourist information centres.
Watersports - All local beach resorts offer an excellent range of wind and motorised water activities. Inland there are several small lakes for wind surfing and sailing.
