i can still see her leading me through the alley
from one of our first days together
i could never deny that smile
so innocent
so curious
so willing to love

i wasnt sure if it was worth the risk
but, well i am still alive
and so is she
our lives arent perfect
but whose is?

some nights i just get so hungry
sometimes she cries her eyes out
and it makes me wonder
why are we outlaws?
what kind of government polices love?

i keep grasping at survival
two corn dogs to fill my stomach
for a little while
i hope she has enough
Lord knows id give her anything

they cant take her away from me
they cant take me away from her
our love is like a diamond
shining in this slum world
