i wake up to a new day
the sun lights up my room
and as i regain consiousness
i remember what today is
i cant help but lift my head up an look out the window
and smile

i want to leap from my bed and run downstairs
but i choose to pause to relish the sunlight and the fact that the day is finally here

no longer can i withhold myself 
i pull my blankets aside
and prepare for the day
