New York (AP) - What a wonderful year in college football season only to be ruined by the BCS computers. In a year full of dominating teams, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, and UCLA all finished the season undefeated. Arkansas and Virginia Tech both narrowly missing the perfect season mark with one close loss each during the regular season. Florida State and the Seminole faithful must feel the arrow on their helmets piercing their collective hearts. The Seminoles coming off back-to-back NCAA titles were denied the chance to play for title for the 3rd straight year by the BCS computers. Florida State behind two-time Heisman winner Jim Fleming capped the season with 44-13 rout of Alabama in the Rose Bowl. The Nebraska Cornhuskers also finished their season with a perfect record as the Cornhuskers (13-0) beat Southern Miss 20-17 in the Fiesta Bowl. However, the Cornhuskers were denied the opportunity by the computers to add another Sears Trophy to their mantles this year after losing in the title game in 2005 and 2006. UCLA and Michigan were selected by the BCS computers to play in the Orange Bowl for the championship. For Michigan the title berth was their 3rd in four years after winning in 2005 and losing in 2007 to Florida State. However, the Wolverines were denied the title by UCLA. The Bruins captured their 4th title of the decade in the Orange Bowl with a win over Michigan 31-19 and the undisputed title of Team of the Decade. However, fans in Lincoln, Tallahassee, and around the country are left wondering and debating the merits of a playoff system and who really was the best in 2008.
