2007 Hokie Award Winners

Virginia Tech sophomore TE Jerry Jones was named 1st Team All-American for the 2nd consective season. Jones, (6-4/239) of Loveland, OH, caught 48 passes for 627 yards and 14 TD's. His 29 TD catches established a new NCAA Division I record for TD receptions. Also, Jones followed up on his All-American honor by catching 8 passes for 142 yards and 2 TD's in the Hokies Orange Bowl victory over Marshall. The Hokies' Offensive Player of the Year, Jones will return to Virginia Tech for his junior season with the rare opportunity of becoming an three time All-American.

QB Chuck Hendricks (6-3/198) of Crawford, NJ completed an outstanding freshman season by finishing 6th in the balloting for the Davey O'Brien Award. Hendricks passed for 2416 yards and 28 TD's in addition to rushing for 6 TD's. Hendricks will be one of leaders of a strong group of Hokies returning for the 2008 season.

HB David Bridges (6-0/240) of Princeton, KY finished 8th in the balloting for the Doak Walker Award. The junior rushed for over 1,000 yards for the 2nd consective season as he lead the Hokies rushing attack with 1455 yards and 13 TD's. However, Bridges will not return for his senior season after declaring for the NFL Draft following the Orange Bowl.

WR Bruce Green (5-11/220) of Fort Belvoir, VA finished in 7th place in the balloting for the Biletnikoff Award. The sophomore receiver hauled in 56 passes for 1293 yards and 9 TD's. Green will return to Blacksburg in 2008 to bolster a strong passing attack that features QB Chuck Hendricks and TE Jerry Jones.

JUCO transfer SS Derrick Milus (6-1/205) of Kankakes, IL burst onto the scence in Blacksburg and immediately into the starting lineup. Named the Hokies' Defensive Player of the Year, Milus lead the team with 72 tackles including 19 for losses. Also, Milus forced a team leading 5 fumbles during the season. Milus will returned to Tech in 2008 to anchor the Hokies' secondary and defense.
