Game Summary
Blacksburg (AP) - Freshman QB Chuck Hendricks passed for 269 yards and 2 TD's as the Hokies beat the Badges in the opener for both teams. HB David Bridges rushed for 113 yards and 2 TD's while WR Bruce Green caught 6 passes for 195 yards. On defense the Hokies were led by JUCO transfer SS Derrick Milus with 11 tackes and DE Leonard Adams with 6 tackles and 2 forced fumbles.

Game Summary
Blacksburg (AP) - The Hokies pitched their first shutout in Coach Warren Fisher's tenure on a cold, wet night at home. The Hokie defense held Stanford to 82 yards on offense. Leading the defense were SS Derrick Milus with 7 tackles, CB Chris Jewell with a pick, and Rover Cade Collins with 2 sacks. Chuck Hendricks passed for 225 yards and 2 TD's. David Bridges carried 25 times for 162 yards and 1 TD. WR Bruce Green caught 5 passes for 137 yards.

Game Summary
Blacksburg (AP) - Bruce Green picked up Big East Player of the Week honors after catching 9 passes for 154 yards and 3 TD's. David Bridges ran for 171 yards and Anthony Sorenson returned a punt 68 yards for a TD. The Hokies held Army to -26 yards rushing in the rain. Backup QB Chris Gary played the 4th Quarter and ran 6 times for 90 yards plus 1 TD. Rover Cade Collins picked up 3 sacks and Brian Reeves blocked a punt to lead the defense.

Game Summary
Pasadena, CA (AP) - Facing the powerhouse UCLA Bruins the Hokies almost pulled a huge upset, but were unable to get the kicking team on the field to attempt a go ahead FG as time ran out. UCLA came into the game with a 70-7 overall record since 2001 along with 3 National Championships during that time. Also, in a recent article in Sports Illustrated, UCLA had 14 players graded 90 or better while the Hokies had no one above 87. However, the Hokies fought tooth and nail with the Bruins, but were unable to attempt a short FG as time ran out following a catch by TE Jerry Jones inside the UCLA 10. The nationally televised game was back and forth all day long as the teams were tied at halftime and at the end of the 3rd Quarter. UCLA HB Vinny Buie put on a show with 11 carries for 180 and 3 TD's including the game winner with less than a minute to play. The Hokies were led by WR's Bruce Green and Dwayne Winborne who each went over a 100 yards and caught a TD. However, the Hokies struggled running the ball all day as they managed just 105 yards.

Game Summary
Philadelphia (AP) - The Hokies rolled into town and spanked the Temple Owls in their first Big East game of the year. HB David Bridges carried the ball 20 times for 219 yards and 3 TD's while DE Leonard Adams led the defense with 3 sacks. Anthony Sorenson contributed on special teams with 213 yards on kick and punt returns.

Game Summary
Blacksburg (AP) - Virginia Tech defeated Syracuse in a wild game 29-27. The Hokies scored with 0:55 remaining on a TD pass from Chuck Hendricks to Bruce Green. Trying to win the game in regulation, the Hokies attempted a two-point conversion. The pass to Bruce Green was tipped away leaving the Hokies down by one. The Hokies defense along with 2 timeouts and an incomplete pass stopped the Orangeman. The Hokies got the ball back in good field thanks to great punt return by Anthony Sorenson. Hendricks hit Green with another long pass at the 8 yard line sitting up Mo Perez with a 25 yard game-winning FG through a driving rain as time expired.

Game Summary
New Brunswick (AP) - Virginia Tech rolled to a 52-3 win over Rutgers. The Hokies put up a 31-3 lead at the half then rested most of the starters in the 2nd Half against an overmatched Rutgers squad. David Bridges who had been held in check during the 1st Half raced 75 yards on an option play on the first play from scrimmage in the 2nd Half. QB Chuck Hendricks had another strong game completing 8 for 11 and 203 yards plus 4 TD passes. Dwayne Winborne caught 4 passes for 88 yards and 1 TD while TE Jerry Jones caught 2 TD passes for a total of 47 yards. Nick Dyer led the defense with 6 tackles and Chris Jewell picked off a pass.

Game Summary
Pittsburgh (AP) - Travares Murphy recorded 6 sacks to brake the NCAA single game record against Pittsburgh. Murphy had struggled this season with an ankle injury led the Hokies defense in one of its finest outings. FS Nick Dyer recorded 7 tackles while Rover Cade Collins made 4 tackles including 2 sacks. WR Bruce Green led the offense with 4 catches for 134 yards including a 62 yard TD. Return specialist Anthony Sorenson returend a punt 68 yards for a score. QB Chuck Hendricks threw for 2 TD's and ran for another as the Hokies avenged last season's upset at the hands of the Panthers.

Game Summary
Morgantown, WV (AP) - The Hokies won third straight game on the road and remained undefeated in the Big East Conference with a 30-27 win over West Virginia. The Hokie defense rallied to stop three Mountaineer drives inside of the 20 during the 1st Half. West Virginia was only able to come away with a pair of field goals as Tech built a 24-6 halftime lead. DT Glenn Green led the Hokie defense with 3 sacks while Nick Dyer and Brian Reeves both picked off passes. QB Chuck Hendrick rushed for 91 yards and 2 TD's while HB David Bridges carried for 93 yards and 1 TD. Hendrick had a poor day passing as a result of the winds in excess of 25 mph, but K Mo Perez was able to convert on 3 of 4 field goal attempts. West Virginia rallied for 21 points in the 4th quarter behind WR Kevin Eklund's 2 TD's and 250 yards receiving, but the rally was too little, too late as the Hokies prevailed.

Game Summary
Blacksburg (AP) - After winning three straight on the road the Hokies came home and received a severe thrashing at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes by a score of 42-14. The loss dropped the Hokies into a three-way tie for the lead of the Big East Conference with Miami and Boston College. Miami raced to an early 14-0 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, but Virginia Tech rallied to tie the game 14-14 at the half. Misery struck in the 3rd as Miamia benefited from three Tech turnovers to pull away to a 35-14 lead. Return specialist Anthony Sorenson fumbled away a kickoff return and a punt return during the 3rd quarter while QB Chuck Hendricks who sacked 8 times tossed an interception to setup the Miami scores. SS Derrick Milus led the Tech defense with 7 tackles and TE Jerry Jones scored both 2 TD's for the Hokies.

Game Summary
Charlottesville (AP) - With a drenching rain falling and chilly crosswinds blowing throughout the night. the Hokies destroyed the rival Wahoos 28-6. SS Derrick Milus earned Big East Conference Player of the Week honors as he led the Tech defense with 14 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. DT Cecil Alexander picked up a pair of sacks and Chris Jewell intercepted a pass for the Hokies. QB Chuck Hendricks found TE Jerry Jones for 3 TD passes to go along with Jones' 118 yards receiving. HB David Bridges ran for 140 yards and a TD. The Hokies returned the favor in beating the Wahoos on their home field following Tech's loss last year in Blacksburg. Despite the elements the day was even brighter for Tech as Boston College upset Miami 24-23. The loss was Miami's 2nd in the conference and makes next week's BC-VT game for the Big East Championship along with a BCS Bowl bid.

Game Summary
Blacksburg (AP) - With the Big East title and a BCS Bowl berth on the line the Hokies destroyed Boston College 38-10. QB Chuck Hendricks passed for 213 yards and 3 TD's to lead the Hokies air attack while David Bridges ran for 123 yards and 2 scores. Jerry Jones, Bruce Green, and Dwayne Winborne each snagged a TD pass for the Hokies. The Hokies defense was led by FS Nick Dyer with 8 tackles and an interception. SS Derrick Milus recorded 6 tackles to go along with a forced fumble and Traveras Murphy picked up 5 tackles including 2 sacks. With the victory the Hokies defended their Big East Championship and will returned to the Orange Bowl to play Marshall (11-1).

Game Summary
Miami (AP) The Hokies defeated Marshall in a wild, rain soaked affair in the Orange Bowl. The two teams played a high scoring thriller last season with the Hokies coming out on top 45-41. This time the Hokies offense again fired on all cylinders against the Thundering Herd. QB Chuck Hendricks fired for 277 yards and 3 TD's on 16 of 24 passing. Hendricks, a freshman, also rushed for 36 yards and a score. All-American TE Jerry Jones caught 8 passes for 142 yards and 2 TD's while WR Bruce Green hauled in 5 catches for 73 yards and a score. HB David Bridges touted the ball 20 times for 106 yards and a TD. Nick Dyer led the Hokie defense with 6 tackles and a fumble recovery while Traveras Murphy collected 4 tackles including a sack. The Hokie secondary struggled with WR Adrian Gaskins all day as Gaskins rang up 12 catches for 287 yards and 2 TD's. Marshall QB Darryl Freeney completed 24-42 passes for 420 yards. The victory allowed the Hokies to repeat as champions of the Orange Bowl and finish the season at 11-2. With the loss Marshall also finished at 11-2. On a disappointing note both teams lost star players early to the NFL following the game as Marshall's Adrian Gaskins and Tech's David Bridges both announced that the Orange Bowl would be their final collegiate game.
