So it's been a while since I last wrote (I knew I wouldn't update this site as often as I planned to) and here's what's going on right now:
My mom decided to surprise me last weekend and spend some time in good ol' Blacksburg with me. We did the usual things: shopping, eating out, arguing over who gets to control the remote, those kinds of things. My mom is the best!...
There was a little bit of roommate drama but I think things are ok for the moment. Neither of us are the confrontational type and rather than bringing up the issues we have we both thought the best thing to do would be to move out, but we did have the talk and after talking about things she's still planning on moving out at the end of the semester but I think it's for the best since this way we can end things still liking each other (hopefully)...
As things are more settled with school, the 18 credit hours aren't as bad as I thought they would be. I still hate (HATE) math but as long as I pass the stupid class I don't care what my grade is. The class that I thought would be the most difficult turned out to be one that I enjoy the most, Business Law. Although it is a difficult class and the book is boring as hell to read, Professor Giles makes the lectures so much fun How many professors would quote Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice" (Now I got me some Seagram's gin, everybody got they cups but they ain't chipped in) to demonstrate the reliance aspect of contracts?...
I've been thinking about studying abroad in Fall 2004. But aren't you supposed to be finished with school by then you ask? Technically, yes. What I'm thinking is, instead of taking another semester of 18 hours in the Spring and taking classes during the summer to walk in the Spring Commencement, I'll take a lighter load in the Spring, say 12 credits, so I'm still full time, maybe take some classes during the summer for GPA purposes, and then go abroad in the Fall where l'll have to take about 12-15 credits, which will put at more than enough credits to graduate in the end. If I can't come home in time to walk for Fall Commencement then I'll do it in the Spring, no big deal. It's just that this is something I've wanted to do before I even got to college but things happened that prevented me from going before now, and now that I know my family is ok and I have the money to do it, I figure, why not? I've only ever been out of the country for a few weeks at a time and even then I was always with my family or people I knew, so this would be a great way for me to learn about myself and experience new things. If I go through with this, I'll be in either England or Scotland, since I don't trust my Spanish enough to spend four months in a Spanish-speaking country (unlike Sheneka, who is having a great time in Quito!)
That's all for now, I'll probably have more at the end of the month! |
