After months of planning, several hundred dollars into plane tickets, and lots of praying that this thing would work, here I am, leaving at the Charlottetown Airport. Now, since this was my first time on a plane that I could remember, I got a little trigger happy with the little camera. So, here are the pictures that looked better when I took them than they do now. One, Two, Three, and Four. I could see The CN Tower, see if you can. After a few hours, I got on a little plane a making this the end of my stay in Toronto. The little plane that did, after landing in Cleveland.
Over the next few days, my friends and I partied and drove around Cleveland, Ohio, making the fools of ourselves that we normally do. We found all-we-can-eat restaurants, and well, we ate all we could. And then some. Surprisingly, no one got lost as we drove through Cleveland or at those malls that were just slightly larger than any around back home. We got our tuxes and eventually got around to the wedding. Just to make sure the days would not be uneventful, on the way to the wedding, one of the two cars with more than half of the wedding party burst into flames on the way to the site. Eventually, we got there..
So, here we are, at the wedding of Bonnie and Phil. Here's Bonnie coming now. A picture of people taking pictures. And the event starts, finally.. It goes on... And on... And now the vows. And there's the happy couple. Fellow usher and a bridesmaid. Me and the other bridesmaid. The two ankle-biters. Candid picture of almost us all. The reception after the wedding was one of the shortest ones I have ever witnessed. Everyone was home before midnight. Before it was too late, I found one more picture available on the camera, so the groom decided to take one of me and his wife.
The next day, I got packed and was ready to take another plane trip over to St. Louis. Here's the TWA plane that got me there. This was the biggest of the planes I've ever been on. And I was safely placed at the very back of it. And the reason I went: Katie Jones. The first night in St. Louis I had a charming meal with her folks and sister, as well as a few other relatives that were visiting. We rented "Wag the Dog" and took it easy for the night.
The next day we were off to go site-seeing. We landed near the Arch, and silly little me asked, "So, what are we in line to buy tickets for?" She pointed up. I was too happy to realize how silly of a question that was. A while later, we got up there, and out came my camera. St. Louis: from the Arch. More of St. Louis. The Mississippi River. And some casino boats. After we got down from the Arch, we started driving and she asked me what I wanted to visit next. I said the Keil center, but they didn't have any tours open or anything like that in the summer. *sigh* Oh well, we drove by a zoo and I figured a zoo was better than nothing, so we went in. We found: kangaroos, giraffes, birds... Even Sealions. Barking Sealions. We spent a good few hours where I got to see more animals than I've ever seen before in one place. Ok, so I've never visited a zoo before. Still, it was free other than the t-shirt I got. To end the trip we had a meal at AppleBees, the first time I've even been to one and I had to have shrimp once I saw it on the menu.. mmMMmm..
The next day, Tuesday, Katie, her mother and sister and I loaded up in the van and took off to see Six Flags. Katie's sister, Veronica, was the only one of the three who wanted to go on the more hair raising roller coaster rides, and I, out of ignorant bliss, was eager to go along for the ride. (Meanwhile, all my friends I left in Cleveland had planned to take in a few rollar coaster rides on the way home - but ended up they didn't, and I did.) Well, I am not a fan of roller coaster rides, but I had my fair share of fun on the three that we went on. Katie went with us for the old fashioned roller coaster, but I think her knuckles started to turn white at a few points. They claimed the line ups there were not bad, but compared to the lines I've seen on Prince Edward Island at the tourist traps, they were quite large. Anyway, a fun day was had by all. After leaving the amusement park and a short trip back to the house, we all, including Katie's father, went to another All-you-can-eat restaurant. I'm starting to really like restaurants in the US.
Well, it came Wednesday and time to go home. Before I left, I took a picture of Katie's family's house. With Sandy their dog. After a little wait at the airport, it was time to get on the plane. *sniff* Here's a picture I took on the way to Toronto. Toronto Airport, again. Enough time to take a picture. From way up high, here's St. John, New Brunswick. I had a quick jog through the Halifax airport as my luggage was on my plane while I waited around for it. I wish they would have told me these things. Picture of the clouds and their shadows over Nova Scotia. Back home I am, there's Charlottetown, PEI. And thus ends the best trip off Island I've ever had.
