The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classe with your house, sleep in the house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room. The four houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn you house points, while any rule-breaking will make your house lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.
Like Professor Weston said, the rules and FAQ surely helps you with a better understanding and life at Hogwarts. Another reason to read it is because sometime during the term, I will give an FAQ quiz, and it would be wise to be prepared. Please do not listen to what Professor Weston said about not reading the FAQ. I am absolutely furious with her at the moment.
However, that is besides the point. Unlike Professor Weston says, I am indeed a very nice person. I just think it is important to have some kind of organization in this wizarding school. I look forward to having a wonderful term with each and every one of you young witches and wizards!
