Main Characters:

Harry Potter - Born on July 31, 1980 to James Potter and Lily Evans Potter. He started Hogwarts on Sept. 1, 1991 and got sorted into Gryffindor House. He speaks Parseltongue (he can talk to snakes), has a lighting-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead, green eyes, and messy, black hair. His middle name is James, after his father.

Ron Weasley - Ron is Harry's best friend. He was born on March 1, 1980 and is in Gryffindor House, too. He's got red hair, and his family doesn't have a lot of money. He has five brothers and one sister.

Hermione Granger - She was born on Sept. 19 and has rather bushy brown hair and brown eyes. Her parents are both muggles (non-magic folk) but she does really really good in school. She's also Harry's best friend.

Draco Malfoy - Draco is the same age as Harry, but he's in Slytherin House....and needless to say, he and Harry are worst enemies. It seems the Malfoy family likes the "Dark Arts." He's got white hair, has grey eyes, and is pale. He's against people who aren't pure-blooded wizards or witches.

Voldemort - AKA Lord Voldemort, The Dark Lord, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and You-Know-Who. He's pretty much the bad guy. He was a very powerful wizard who killed Harry's parents but could not kill Harry when he tried, leaving Harry's scar on his forehead. Voldemort lost power but later returns to try to finish Harry off. He is only afraid of Albus Dumbledore.

Rubeus Hagrid - Hagrid is the half-giant who teaches Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts. He's about twice the height of a normal man. He was born in 1929 to a human father and giant mother. He lives on the Hogwarts grounds in a hut by the Forbidden Forest because he was expelled from Hogwarts in his earier years because he was thought to be the "Heir of Slytherin" even though he was in Gryffindor House. He is friends to Harry, Ron, and Hermione and has a large, friendly dog named Fang.

The Dursleys - Harry lives with his Uncle Vernon Dursley, Aunt Petunia Dursley, and Cousin Dudley Dursley who is completely spoiled. Aunt Petunia is Lily Potter's sister. The Dursleys are very mean to Harry and don't want anything to do with him or magic.

Sirius Black - Sirius was James Potter's best friend and is Harry's godfather. He was falsely accused of mudering 13 people with a single curse and was sent to the wizard prison, Azkaban without a trial, but escaped in 1993 and was on the run. However, something happens to him in the fifth book, but I won't say! Oh yeah, he's an Animagus and can turn into a big black dog. He was born in 1960 and his nickname is Padfoot.

Remus Lupin - Was also born in 1960 and was a friend to James Potter in Hogwarts. He teaches Defense Against the Dark Arts one year. He is also a werewolf. He later returns in the fifth book. He's friends to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Albus Dumbledore - Albus is the tall and thin Head Master of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He has a long grey beard and blue "twinkling" eyes, and half-moon spectacles. He was in Gryffindor when he went to Hogwarts. He was born in 1840 and is the only person that Voldemort fears. He is known as the best wizard in the world!

Minerva McGonagall - Professor McGonagall teaches Transfiguration at Hogwarts. She is Head of Gryffindor and is an Animagus who can turn into a tabby cat at will. He hair is black and is pulled back in a bun. She was born in 1920 and has square glasses and beady eyes.

Severus Snape - Professor Snape teaches Potions in the dungeon classroom at Hogwarts, but he wants to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. He is the Head of Slytherin House and has black and greasy shoulder length hair. He has black eyes and yellowy teeth. He scowls a lot, especially at Harry and his friends because James, Harry's father, was mean to him in school.

The Weasleys - I think I should say something about the Weasleys because they are a very important family. The father, Arthur Weasley, works in the Department of Muggle Relations in the Ministry of Magic. He is fascinated with muggles. The mother, Molly Weasley, is like a mother figure to Harry. They don't have a lot of money, and live in a house they call The Burrow. Bill Weasley, their grown son, works in Gringotts, the wizard bank, as a curse-breaker in Egypt. Charlie Weasley, another grown son, works with dragons in Romania. Percy Weasley, also a grown son, works with the Ministry of Magic. Fred and George Weasley are the trouble-makes who want to own a jokeshop. Ron's info is up there. And the only girl, Ginny Weasley, goes to Hogwarts, too, and used to have a crush on Harry, but doesn't anymore. She's also friends with Hermione.
