The show at the Govener's Cup downtown last night was awesome. The Strawberries opened, and the Widgets played afterward. The Strawberries played great, as always. But after their set was over, and they were taking their equiptment down, the cops came.
The god damn people that live accross the street from the Govener's Cup downtown called the cops because the crowd was standing on the sidewalk outside. Apparently we were blocking the sidewalk for all the people that were downtown... at 9:30. All three hobos were apparently not able to use the sidewalk so the cops got called, and we had to disperse.
That in and of itself wasn't that bad. It was annoying, but I don't mind complying with The Law and moving a half block down the street from time to time. But the Fuzz continued to harass the crowd. They flipped a bitch over a couple kids playing WALLBALL in the alley. Wallball, honestly. Yes folks, this is your parents tax dollars at work. Keeping those damn hoodlums from playing with a red rubber ball in an alley. You'd think they'd at least go break up the fight in front of the bar near the Coffe House Cafe.
The Widgets got to play a few songs finally, after much conflict with the Authority. But even after everyone moved inside, we still kept taking crap. They made the band turn down the volume very low, and they played another song at half volume. Once again, not enough for the Pig Army. They shut the show down, and gave the Gov Cup a ticket. Over 200 dollars for throwing a concert exactly the same as they do every friday night.
Afterward I talked to one of the employees about the show. He said there probably won't be any more shows like that, obviously. He said there might be acoustic shows though. So we can wait and hope for that.
Another good thing comes to an end, because The Man stepped in. Now, mind you, I'm no anarchist, but there is a lot of mistreatment by police, especially towards the youth in society. And with that, I urge you to repeat after me, "Damn the Man!" And when one of you gets older, and become a politician (god forbidding) would you mind fixing some stuff? It'd certainly be nice.
