10046. William BREWSTER (photo) was born in 1566 in Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND. or 1565/66/67 He emigrated in 1620 from Ship: The Mayflower. He died on 10 Apr 1644 in Plymouth, Plymouth, MA. He was Pilgrims' Ruling Elder in Plymouth, Plymouth, MA. William Brewster, b. 1567, d. Apr. 10, 1644, was a leader of the PILGRIMS, who established Plymouth Colony. In England he studied briefly at Cambridge, the only Pilgrim Father to have some university training. A member of the local gentry in Scrooby, Yorkshire, he helped organize a separatist religious congregation in 1606 and financed its move to Holland in 1608. His influence was instrumental in winning the approval of the Virginia Company for the proposal to resettle the congregation in America, and he was one of the few original Scrooby separatists who sailed on the Mayflower in 1620. As the church's ruling elder in Leyden and then in Plymouth, Brewster shared with William Bradford and Edward Winslow in the leadership of the Pilgrim enterprise. He was married to Mary WENTWORTH about 1591.

10047. Mary WENTWORTH was born about 1569 in Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND. She emigrated in 1620 from Ship: The Mayflower. She died on 17 Apr 1627 in Plymouth, Plymouth, MA. Children were:

iv. BREWSTER was born in 1591. He (or she) died in 1608.
v. Jonathan BREWSTER was born on 12 Aug 1593. He died on 7 Aug 1659.
vi. Robert BREWSTER was born in 1599. He died in 1634.
vii. Fear BREWSTER was born in 1600. She emigrated in 1621 from Ship: The Ann. She died on 12 Dec 1634.
viii. Love BREWSTER was born in 1601. He emigrated in 1620 from Ship: The Mayflower. He died on 31 Jan 1650.
