Pupdate: September 11, 2006

The puppies are doing very well -- getting playful and interactive. They had their first meal (for details click here) and are starting to spend time away from mom. Their little toothies are starting to develop and mom is very appreciative of the time away!!

Their personalities are starting to develop and it is fun to see how things change from day to day. And they are continuing to grow although the size "rankings" are changing. Each one is getting "one on one" time away from mom and littermates. During this time they get handled, introduced to the other dogs, and mild grooming (handling the ears, feet, and gentle brushing) started.

Weights were taken tonight and they were surprisingly good for it!

  • Bongo: 4 lbs 1 oz
  • Jade: 3 lbs 13 oz
  • BlackJack: 4 lbs 0 oz
  • Tara: 4 lbs 0 oz
  • Monty: 4 lbs 3 oz
  • Kiara: 4 lbs 3 oz
  • Osiris: 4 lbs 10 oz

Osiris is still the big boy of the group -- leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else. Bongo has caught up and surpassed several of the others. Kiara is now the largest of the females surpassing Tara. Jade appears to be the small, delicate one of the group. We'll see if this pattern remains or if things change again in a few days!

Nykeita, Bongo, Monty, and BlackJack

And while those three were hanging out with Mom, the other four - Osiris, Jade (off to the side), Kiara (in front of Osiris), and Tara (behind Osiris) were hanging out on their own. Notice the mess left after their meal!! The blanket needs to be changed. Nykeita watches from her "corner"!
