Pupdate: September 3, 2006
Nykeita is doing well -- she is starting to stay out of the pool a lot more. I find her sleeping beside it as often as in it. She is still an excellent mom - nursing the puppies well, cleaning up after them, etc. Her weight is maintaining, her coat still looks great, she is becoming more relaxed each day. She actually let me pick up one of the puppies last night without jumping up to watch me closely.
The puppies are growing as only newborn pups can & do. Eyes are starting to open -- Bongo, Jade, Kiara, & BlackJack all have one or both eyes open. The other three are lagging behind a bit. I imagine all eyes will be open in the next couple of days and then ears. They are starting to use their back legs more and, thus, are becoming more and more mobile as time progresses. Alas, the trouble is yet to begin - for me anyway!!
No more disappearances by Nykeita but am still putting her on the cable when she is outside just to be safe! There have been a couple inquiries on the pups and a couple of applications. Nothing definitive yet tho so if you know of anyone interested . . . they will be ready to place in mid-October.

- Bongo: 45 oz aka 2 lbs 13 oz; both eyes opened
- Jade: 46 oz aka 2 lbs 14 oz; both eyes opened
- BlackJack: 48 oz aka 3 lbs 0 oz; left eye opened
- Tara: 48 lbs aka 3 lbs 0 oz; no eyes opened yet
- Monty: 48 oz aka 3 lbs 0 oz; no eyes opened yet
- Kiara: 46 oz aka 2 lbs 14 oz; right eye opened
- Osiris: 50 oz aka 3 lbs 2 oz; no eyes opened yet
