Pupdate: October 11, 2006

Puppies turned 7 weeks old yesterday! They are all recovered well from their spays and neuters. Stitches will come out tomorrow and they will all be vaccinated tomorrow. Have not weighed them since last week but Osiris is at least 13 lbs (little moose!).

The puppies are becoming very playful, interactive, and are NOT happy when I finally have to come back in after playing with them. Nykeita is about done with the pups. She will still occasionally let them nurse but jumps away and growls most of the time. Her raised platform sanctity has been breached. The pups have figured out how to get up there. She is getting to stay out of the pen area most of the day now.

I put up a play area attached to the pen (so I guess containment phase V) for the pups to romp in. They still sleep and rest in the pen but come out for playing and are all pooping in the far corner. I made up some rope toys for them and they are having a great time playing tug of war!

I put several new toys in with them and they are having fun with them. One is a monkey that screams when it is chewed on. You should have seen the puppies the first time they made it scream! It was most hilarious. My bold boy, Osiris, was the first to go back and make it scream again!

Sadly the puppies will start leaving soon! Osiris (probably renamed Kaieda) & BlackJack (renamed Tyrant aka Tye) will be going to their new homes this weekend. Several of the pups are still not placed so spread the word!
