October Activities
For a how to  activity we made bats out of Oreo cookies.
Then we wrote how we made it using the key words; first, next, last.

Math
Using Dem Bones candy we worked on estimating, counting and graphing skills. At the end we made skeletons and then ate them!
We counted the number of seeds in our pumpkin. First we put them in cups of 10. Then into containers of 100 and placed them on the place value board. Our pumpkin had 634 seeds. WOW!!
Candy Math
First we estimated the number of candies in the bowl. Then we counted them by tens and ones. Next we sorted the candy and made it into patterns. Hopefully the children came home and tried this with their own candy.
Science
Pumpkin Science
A dad brought in pumpkins for the class. We reviewed property words by describing our pumpkins. Then we each had a chance to weigh and measure our pumpkins. When we were finished we painted our pumpkins. Eventually the missing disc with the finished product will show up and I'll post those pictures too.
Party Time!
Our first task was to color a placemat for our afternoon snack.
Once the party started we broke into small groups. One group went into the hall. There the children colored pictures of themselves dressed up on a mural. They also signed a poster and drew a picture for Nathaniel. Then they played games with balloons.
The next center was making a Halloween door hanger out of fun foam.
After the door hangers the children moved to the snack table. There they made a witch's broomstick out of a pretzel and fruit roll up. They also decorated a Hallowen sugar cookie. The next stop was to make a Halloween windsock.
The final center was to make a ghost pencil topper, a finger pupper bat and play a game of Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin.
The party was a fun time. The children were busy and well behaved.  A great big THANK YOU! goes to all the parents that sent in snacks/supplies and helped out with our party.
