In the recent JETS officers� meeting we talked about some major issues that concerned this years JETS schedule. Here are the main topics:

MEETINGS: we will be meeting on DAYS 2 & 4 during the Y period. Any other meeting times after school will be announced later.

CLUB FAIR DAY: we will not need heavy recruiting so we don�t plan on adding 50 members like last year (j/k).

• we will have posters explaining exactly what the JETS members do, the necessary attendance and time commitment, and the background on JETS. Joanne and Mack will be in charge of the posters and what-not.
• Also, new incoming members (freshmen) will be paired off with older members that have had previous experience with JETS. The members will be "super-glued" (literally) to the newer members so that the freshman/new members can ask questions to that specific member. Any responsibility given to the older member will be shared with the newer member in order to incorporate the new members into the club.
• There will be a couple of meetings that will be set aside for the JETS to familiarize themselves with the tools and each other. (Ooh fun! It�s a tool day)

• Attendance will be taken by the secretary or any other officer that is present. Members� attendance is highly recommended and you better be there or you�re going to get your butt-kicked by Nancy.
• There will be a check-in, check-out sheet posted outside of the JETS door and the garage door. This will be for any one who is taking anything (tools, wood, pvc, etc) out of the JETS room, or bringing something into the JETS room.

BEST: this year we will try to have higher achievements for our best competition. We will start a BEST notebook immediately after school starts. The officer�s will collaborate together to make a sketchy outline of our plans.

• Any work affiliated with the JETS will be updated once a week during the BEST competition. After BEST any of the updates will be done once every 2 weeks.
• The BEST KICK OFF DAY will be on SEPTEMBER 16, 2K.
• The MALL DAY is expected to be 4 weeks after the kick off.
• This year�s brainstorming ideas will be reviewed by all the JETS members in a committee type meeting. We will have a folder posted up outside the door for any written or drawn prototypes. Hopefully, we will not make 4 or more prototypes like we did last year. All the paper prototypes that have passed the JETS committee will be put together to see which pieces will be used to the actual prototype.
• Oh yes, and on a side note, we will be wearing our uniforms to the competitions.

• We are definitely going to have our annual water balloon fest in the spring. Only this time, we may have two events at one time, in order to add variety. Maybe a little surprise for our fans. [Lemur note: We have fans?]
• We were also thinking about having several bake sales. The secretary had a idea about letting one or two people coordinate one bake sale and then switch off with two other people for the next bake sale. But if its too much of a hassle then forget I even mentioned it.

For the pins we will need a design and the approximate cost. Any JETS member can submit their designs to Joanne (public relations) who will be in charge of the pins.
• Bumperstickers are still in progress. We aren�t sure if we really want to do this.
• Anyone willing to make another t-shirt design will submit them to Joanne or anyone except Nancy (b/c she�s really disorganized. We love you Nancy!)

• For some reason, not many of the JETS members seem to know anything about this. All we know is that it�s a really hard test and we are put into groups of 5 (Varsity & Junior Varsity & "the rest of us" � or how Nancy puts it so nicely).
• The participants do not necessarily have to be JETS members and books will be allowed. So bring lots of physics books!!

PHONE TREE: This will be a minor topic in our next meeting. We need to have the names and number�s of ALL our members (including the new members) in order to finish this, so this won�t be coming up until after school starts.

LOWE�S THANK YOU: After BEST we will have a big thank you gift for the Lowe�s staff, for putting up with us this year and last year.

Anyway, to wrap up this chapter of updates given to you by the wacky secreterran/secretary of JETS. I hope you have a happy flight to the shiny land of sporks. Don�t mind me, I�m only insane.

CALENDAR UPDATES:

August 31, 2k: VERY IMPORTANT MEETING!!! We will be ::dramatic chord:: cleaning the Jets lab! Anyone who wishes to help can come. [LEMUR NOTE: That means that if you don't show up, we'll hurt you.] Please do not bring more trash to the room unless it "aesthetically enhances" it (and I don't think that it would help anyway).
