Act I, Scene 5 Port Washington: Emily's house

Enter Emily, Timmy, Julia

Emily: Hey everyone! Thanks so much for coming to my graduation party! Come on, I know everyone wants to dance. Get up and lets go guys and girls! If you're not ready yet go down the hall, make a left and the keg's right there! Will someone please turn on the music? [Music plays, and people dance!]

Make room, people, and lets get on with the dancing! Move the couch, put the table over there, and everyone get up and dance. Don't worry about acting like an idiot, we'll never see each other again after tonight! Someone turn on the AC its getting hot in here.

Enter Robert

Robert: Any ladies wanna take a chance with me tonight? Who will be the lucky girl? Wowwho is that, dancing over there? She is fine! Her hair is as straight and as beautiful as Jennifer Aniston! And her body is shaped like Elsa Benitez's. I could just spend the whole night watching her, but first, I'll hit up the keg!

Exit Robert

Timmy: Emily, why'd you let that nerd in here? I swear to god, if he comes any where near me I'll kill him.

Emily: Come on, Timmy. Is it really that big of a deal? I mean seriously, after tonight you'll never see him again. Let him have his fun and I doubt anyone else will even notice.

Timmy: Em, you're popular, he's nerd. Our reps can't be ruined on the last night of high school! He's messing up the party for everyone and it's our last night together.

Emily: What's his name again? Roberto?

Timmy: No, it's Rob, he's a loser.

Emily: Calm yourself, just leave him alone. I've heard he's a good kid, so treat him like any other. Don't ruin the party, I don't want any fights in my house.

Timmy: I won't fight in your house, but that doesn't mean I won't take it outside.

Emily: God, why are you so full of yourself? Can't you just leave him alone and let him have his fun?

Timmy: Em, the party was ruined the second he walked in the door. I don't wanna take this any more.

Exit Timmy

Robert: Woah there! Are you from Tennessee?

Julia: Umm, nowhy?

Robert: Because you're the only ten I see!

Julia: How originalyou'll need something a little better than that to get with me!

Robert: Okay, how about I really want to kiss you?

Julia: Nice try, but I'm taken. Peter is mine and I am his.

Robert: Forget him and come with me!

Robert grabs Julia and they run away

Enter Robert, by himself

Robert: How could I never have noticed her before?

Natalie: She doesn't go to our school, stud. She's Emily's cousin and she's from Kentucky.

Robert: Aww, I was so close!

Natalie: What??

Robert: Never mind! Tell me more about her.

Natalie: Well, her mom is Emily's aunt. I've known her since I was little, since I moved here from Kentucky. She is such a nice person. She is so chill and so fun to be around, seriously, she's one of my best friends.

Robert: Wait she's related to Emily? Does that mean she's related to Timmy too?

Natalie: You've got a cute face, but you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, now are you?

Enter Emily [Phone rings]

Emily: (Into phone): Hi, mom how was it? Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing, just staying home. Ok, all right, see you then, bye!

(To guests): Okay guys, time to leave. My parents just called my cell and said they are coming home in two hours. Everyone out, Julia and Nat, you're still sleeping over right?

Exit all guests except Natalie and Julia

Julia: Who was that guy you were talking to? I think I had a little too much from the keg!

Natalie: I don't know, some loser, he was cute though! I think he liked you, he was asking me all this stuff about you.

Julia: Well, why didn't he say good-bye? Can you please go find him? Ask him his name, and try to find out if he has a girlfriend. If he does, I'll just die!

Exit Natalie

Enter Natalie

Natalie: His name was Robert, and he's in the computer club. You cannot go out with him! It would destroy your reputation!

Julia: How could my first love be such a nerd?

Natalie: I don't know, but its getting late and I think you've had a little too much to drink. Let's just go to bed and we'll talk about it in the morning.

Act 2, Scene 2 Port Washington: Outside Julia's house

Robert is wandering outside around Julia's porch

Robert: (to himself) Mark is so annoying. He's only making fun of Julia and me because he has never experienced anything close to what we have.

Julia walks outside

What's that noise? It is the computer virus, and Julia is the virus scanning software that makes its ok. Come out dear virus scanner, and shut down those darn hackers, which are already beginning to die, just in your presence due to the new 5.0 update. You are the love of my life, and I love you. Why don't you notice how much I love you? Miss Cleo's tarot cards even told me that we were going to be together, and I didn't pay $9.95 per minute for a liar. Her voice is so beautiful as she talks on her cell phone. If only I was that cell phone, and I could listen to her talk, while being nestled against her face.

Julia: Oh Natalie, I'm so upset!

Robert: Speak again, dear Julia, for your voice is even more pleasant than that of my last girlfriend who was a member of the choir!

Julia: I mean Natalie, why does he have to be such a nerd? I wish he would leave the computer clubYeah, I know, but if he didn't I would gladly give up being popular for him.

Robert: Should I let her know that I'm here?

Julia: Yeah, Rob is the same person, no matter what social group he belongs to. I mean what exactly is a nerd? Its just a stupid term that society labels people who are smarter than they areI knowIf he was a football jock all the girls would be all over him and you know it. He's absolutely perfect, without that label of course.

Robert: (coming out of hiding) Julia, tell me what I need to do to be popular, and I will do it in a second.

Julia: Nat, I gotta gowho is that? Who's spying on me at this hour of the night?

Robert: I can't tell you who I am, because I fear that you will make fun of me.

Julia: I know, I haven't talked to all that much, but I know whom you are. You are Robert, and you areummin computer club.

Robert: Not any more if you don't want me to be.

Julia: How and why did you come here? My dad has laser activated motion sensors surrounding our property. If my dad finds you here, you're so dead.

Robert: Well, I'm willing to take that risk so I can see you. Even those lasers can't keep us separate, and your dad is no threat to me.

Julia: Well, how did you find this place?

Robert: MapQuest.com of course.

Julia: Computer club?

Robert: Yeah

Julia: Whatever, I really don't care any more. But, I really have to know the answer to one question. Do you love me? I mean, its not like you're going to say no, but if you say yes, I'll have to believe it. So if you really do love me, please tell me. But if you think I'm a little on the slutty side, I'll just walk away sadly. Because seriously, this is it, I'm not going to hide my feelings any longer. I really, truly, love you.

Robert: I swear to God -

Julia: (interrupting him) don't swear to God.

Robert: Then how will you know I'm telling the truth?

Julia: If you say you love me, I'll believe you.

Robert: Well, then, I love you.

Julia: So I guess this is goodbye. It's getting late, and I have a lacrosse game in the morning. I'll think of you in my dreams.

Robert: What? That's it? You're leaving so soon?

Julia: What else is there to talk about?

Robert: Well, I said I love you, and you didn't say anything back. A little weird isn't it?

Julia: But Rob, I already told you I loved you. But I love you so much, I'll tell you again. And again, and again, and again(phone rings) oh, it's Nat. I really gotta go! (into phone) Hey Nat, hold on a sec(to Rob) So goodnight for now, if you want to get married, give me a call tomorrow. You make the plans, and I'll be there.

Julia goes inside.

Robert: Sweet dreams, my love, have a good night,

For us to be together will truly be a fight.

It is almost morning, so I unwillingly must leave,

The time spent without you, I will always grieve.

This is so cliché, almost like from a play,

Maybe something we saw in Shakespeare Day (pause).

So, I'm going now, before your dad decides to sue,

But always remember how much I love you.
